 I’ve seen Red Rising all over the place for years. It's on so many top sci-fi lists and has excellent reviews, but I was hesitant to start it. I was afraid it wouldn’t live up to the hype, and it didn’t. I tried reading it last year, and it put me into a reading slump. This time, I wanted to give it a second try with the audiobook. The audiobook was the way to go, but I didn’t love it. I found it boring at times, and I was falling asleep at my desk. I also had difficulty keeping up with all the characters and tribes of the Institute. I felt it was just a more political Hunger Games but in space. I can see how the story has potential, and I will probably try the second one, but I am not in a rush to start it.
