Simple fluff story.  Nothing too complicated with an MVP cousin and a sweet gong doing the chasing.

I came here for a good time and I had it. This was hilarious and tooth rottingly sweet. If you just need some really good fluff to pick you up and surround you in rainbow bubbles, pastels, and flowers this is an excellent pick. It’s entirely free of any drama or tension. Seriously. It’s just a really fun time.

Hey, hey you.  Did you want an enemies to lovers story?  No, I don't mean snarky little sniping and oh, we're on opposite sides but we're so in love, la!  I mean straight up, hate your fucking guts and hope to drag you down to hell enemies, where they use each other and outside interference leads to them (kinda) working together while still trying to pit each other and slowly, so slowly falling in love with each other?
May I humbly present this masterpiece?
Both of the characters are manipulative assholes with dark gray to black morals and about the only reason why Jiang Luo is nominally the "good guy" is because he ends up gaining some genuinely good and well-meaning friends that he wants to protect.  I loved watching Chi You and Jiang Luo pit each other, argue, scrabble, and fight, while also coming to realize that there's no one in the world that understands them quite as well as each other.
The author clearly has some deep love for gothic imagery and there's some scenes that are just so purely AESTHETIC that they're almost comical, but they're relatively rare and the rest of the novel is so damned good that it's easy to just roll your eyes and move on.

I really enjoyed this novel though I admit, I expected the ML to turn out to be a different creature than what he did.  While there are some farming and animal raising elements, the number one focus of this story is FOOD and between the descriptions and the inclusion of photos by the translator, I was always so hungry while reading this, even if I'd just eaten.  I'm knocking half a star because this story really does meander it's way to the main plot, which really doesn't kick in until about two thirds of the way through the book but it had a lot of interesting elements and was very satisfying.
I totally shipped the mountain god and the bird god so I was really happy they got together but I wish there had been more of that relationship in the extras.
