The main pairing was actually surprisingly sweet but the constant introduction of new people who were bizarrely interested in the main character and just about everything to do with his brother was whack and gross. Thankfully if you ignore all of that, the story has it's moments. It was definitely an interesting concept to give the main character the ability to see people's thoughts/feelings as actual words and the fact that collected the ones that made him feel good was a really sweet and nice touch.
Also, yo, they skate over the male lead's role within the mafia quite a lot. Most of the time you see him, it's when he's interacting with the main character. He's supposedly quite high up there and quite powerful and feared, but the only time it's demonstrated is when he's saving the mc from trouble.
Overall, I won't say it's my favorite thing I've ever read and definitely some content warnings to go with it, but I enjoyed the main pairing's relationship.

Graphic: Child abuse, Incest, Rape
The whole family history for the main character is just major content warnings in general and I know the author growth for the younger brother but... uh... no. Not for me, thanks. More info in the cut The younger brother either rapes or attempted to rape the main character. You do see him forcing himself on him and you see him naked and bruised but the rape itself, if it actually happened, isn't on the screen. Years later, the older brother finds out younger bro is now with the mafia and has a habit of calling for sex workers that look like the MC, and he still comes on to the MC quite a bit. There's eventually conversations the two of them have where the MC makes it clear that he loves him as a brother and something romantic will never, ever happen between them, with heavy implications that they should absolutely not repeat the past (apparently Dad and Uncle had a similar twisted love story?!?!) and younger brother lets go of his feelings and leaves for America (i think) to hook up with the guy who tried to drug the MC.......
Honestly, I think I would've enjoyed this more if it was longer or had given more room for the fantasy elements. I could never quite figure out the worldbuilding. Let it breathe more.
You ever have that moment when you start reading something you weren't sure about because you're trying to be adventurous and check out something new, but then you get to the actual reading and it's just... an overwhelming wave of regret? Yeah. Yeah. This is sure to be someone's kink but it's definitely not mine.
Yeah... no. It just wasn't working for me.
