I truly loved this book! It's such a beautiful story of love and friendship, and learning how to navigate relationships with peers as you grow up and face difficult obstacles in life. It's so well written, I fell into the world in just a few pages and was completely hooked. 

It's a book that will make you laugh and cry and everything in between. It's gripping and immersive, and I can't recommend it enough!

I'm a big fan of Greek mythology, so was really excited to read this book. I enjoyed the world-building and story, although some of the twists and reveals where a little obvious to me to have the intended effect. I still very much enjoyed the journey of these character through the underworld, the tasks they face along the way and seeing their relationships with one another grow and develop. 

The first half is a little slow in places; the second half is more gripping. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and would recommend to any Greek mythology fans. I'll definitely read book 2!

I love a who-dunnit tale, but found this to have slightly too many twists for the sake of twists. There are a couple of points that also don't quite make sense to me, and I realize that it's fiction, but as it's based very much in the real world, it shatters the illusion somewhat. I was left questioning certain actions and events. But overall, it was a gripping and very enjoyable read.

DNF at 34%. I just couldn't get into this story. I like the concept of following Captain Hook after he's left Neverland, and learning the story behind how he became the villain we all know so well, but there just wasn't enough to hook me in. 

I didn't realize this is a sequel to the authors previous book Wendy, Darling. There are many references to earlier events/characters, which made it hard to get into. 

I found the story too slow for my taste, and the jumping timelines/events confusing in places.

A great quick read. Very emotional for such a short story. Gripping and  suspenseful. 

Witches and magical creatures, prophecy and fate, a morally gray heroine, enemies to lovers - this book ticks a lot of boxes I love! 

I thoroughly enjoyed this dark and modern fairtytale, following Violet the seer as she tries to understand the curse that hangs over the kingdoms prince, deciding whether she should do what's best for herself and for her king. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys romantic fantasy.

DNF at 34%. I just couldn't get on board with the writing style. Lists and metaphors are overused, and it's very pretentious - which I realize is meant to fit the character of woman we're following, but it made it difficult to read. I felt the story lacked flow, and I couldn't find the drive to continue. 

The premise of a female psychopathic food critic who kills and eats her lovers sounded fantastic, but I was disappointed with the execution.

I love the tale of the Wawel Dragon, and this retelling is a really sweet, enjoyable read. It deals with the loss of a parent, trying to cope and adjust in the aftermath, and the journey of making new friends and opening yourself to trusting others. I loved the characters, and the twist on Polish folklore. It's a heartwarming tale that I think children will really enjoy.

A dark, character-driven tale of friendship and fame, of pushing to get what you want, even when it means hurting people in the process of achieving your goals. 

I found this story a little repetitive. I realise it was trying to build the strong feelings and relationships throughout, and teach the author of the motivations behind the actions, but I just felt it was really hammered home in places. I enjoyed the second half much more than the first.

This is a retelling of The Children of Lir, from the point of view of their stepmother, Aífe. I didn't know the story to begin with, and overall enjoyed this Irish fairytale. I read the first 40% very quickly and easily, but felt that the second half was a little too slow and dragged in places. I enjoyed that each chapter was introduced with the classic version of the tale, followed by the story from the view of Aífe - looking how events can be twisted to suit those telling the tale.
