This novel is adorable - the story of a ghost and a gardener. The artwork is beautiful. It's an easy-read with a heartwarming story. The story jumps in places, and may have benefited from being slightly longer, but it's a great read overall.

DNF at 40%. It took 30% for anything to happen. I persevered a little further but I just couldn't continue. At 40% I'd want to have some connection with a character, or the story, or something. But there wasn't anything making me want to read on. The idea of two souls living in a single body, switching places between day and night, sounds very interesting, but the world this story is set in wasn't for me. The pace is just too slow.

A gothic fantasy, full of secrets, mystery and suspense. The tale of a young, cunning woman - Asher Todd - who takes a position as governess to the three children of Moorwood family, and her ulterior motives for taking on this role.

I love a dark, twisted fairytale, and thoroughly enjoyed The Path of Thorns. A story where witches, werewolves and ghosts are more than just myths. I loved learning of Asher's past, and watching as she learns that she's not the only in town with dark secrets.

I found this book too cheesy for my taste. Some of the phrasing made me cringe. It's somewhat to be expected for a story focused on high school romance, but just not my cup of tea. 

It was an easy read, lighthearted overall with a cute storyline - guy and girl have three magical dates together, while balancing the other struggles that life throws at them. It also deals with some deeper issues such as sexual assault.

The story is told from three points of view: Loulie - a woman who can find hidden magical items, and sells them under the title 'Midnight Merchant', with her jinn friend and bodyguard; Price Mazen - the youngest of the Sultan's children; Aisha - one of the legendary 40 thieves.

The world building in this novel is beautiful. I loved the characters, and seeing the story unfold from their different points of view, each with their own unique voice - seeing their relationships grow and change as they learn more about one another and face the journey to find the magical lamp together. Some parts of the plot felt a little obvious, but the overall story was compelling. 

I thoroughly enjoyed the vast majority of this book, but I was somewhat disappointed with the ending. It left me unsatisfied, with too many questions left unanswered. I didn't realize this book was part of a trilogy, so was hoping for sound resolution to the story. I also struggled slightly with keeping up with what was happening in the final scenes, as there was so many moving parts. 

Overall, it's a great fantasy book, full of magic and mystery, and I'm looking forward to reading the next installment.

If you like retellings of Greek mythology, then you'll love this book. It tells the story of the Trojan War from the perspective of three central woman. Clytemnestra - Helen's sister and Agamemnon’s wife, Elektra - Clytemnestra and Agamemnon’s youngest daughter, and Cassandra - a princesses of Troy. Despite the title, Elektra is not the central character of the book - it switches between each of the woman. 

I found the story a little slow and repetitive for my taste. I also didn't warm to Clytemnestra or Elektra - I understand their motivations, but wasn't rooting for either of them and found it hard to press on through some chapters. As I already knew the story of Troy, I wasn't emotionally invested and found myself a little bored at times. If you don't know the story, this may be a more interesting read, but I felt it didn't add anything new to a already well told tale.

The story follows Kayleigh's life as a content moderator for a social media platform, reviewing dark and disturbing content and deciding what should stay online for public view and what should be removed. It's interesting to consider the rules given for when and why content is deemed 'unsuitable'. It's also interesting to see how someone in this position, seeing thousands of these flagged videos a day, could have their views on the world altered, and the toll it takes on their mental health.

I found the story very compelling, but the ending was too abrupt and left me unsatisfied. I would have been happy to read further about these characters and their stories.

I struggled a little to get going with this book. I thought the story would follow both sisters, but it's really focused on the elder sister, Jani, as she figures out the history of the hotel and it's staff. The first half I found a little slow, but the second half has a better pace. I was more interested once the story took a darker turn. 

I liked the characters, and seeing their relationships with one another grow and evolve. I enjoyed the story overall, but I didn't warm to Jani and the ending fell a little flat for me.

This book was truly beautiful. It elicited a wide range of fierce emotions - rage, hatred, disgust, as well as overwhelming joy and love. It takes you through a beautiful journey of a young woman's life, as she navigates growing up in a world that tries to keep her tame and quiet, where femininity is taboo. The hook with this story is the ability for woman to turn into dragons, and how this is viewed by society as so embarrassing and awful that's it's completely ignored, and any mentions of dragons is shamed. It shows how the world tries to tie women down, and the struggle for freedom through difficult life choices.

The pacing was a little slow to start. The beginning is written switching between past and present events, which I found a little confusing, but once you pass the point where the two timelines meet, it was much easier to follow. 

I loved the characters and the dynamics between one another - particularly the dust-wife and Agnes. And who wouldn't love a story with a demon chicken! However, I did feel like the book plays fantasy buzzword bingo. It tries to hit so many different fantasy points that it didn't always work. Some felt more distracting than adding value to the world. 

Overall, it was an enjoyable and entertaining fairytale, just a little slow for my taste.
