This is a fascinating and gripping tale of a treasure hunt book that became a worldwide sensation. The story spans from the creation of the book to the fifty year anniversary, and follows two best friends, their lives and intertwined families, and the repercussions their 'competitive nature' has on the people around them. 

The characters and relationships are complex and compelling. The reveals are well laid and paced, making a book that's difficult to put down. Overall, it's a great mystery novel that I highly recommend.

If you like Bridgerton, then you'll love this. I listened to this as an audiobook and Eleanor Tomlinson does a fantastic job. The story itself is a little predictable, but it was still a fun and enjoyable regency romance.

Really disappointed with this one. I wanted more murder mystery, and less 19 year old girl bonding with a timeless being that's literally been watching over her since she was a baby. The whole relationship with Death is very odd - he twists and manipulates Signa to his way of thinking, shifting her focus from the image and dream she's had of high society all her life, to instead make him the focus. I don't like any of it. It's creepy and I'm not a fan of grooming being romanticized. 

Aside from the romance, the book is very repetitive, making it longer than it needs to be. I found the twists predictable and guessed the murderer early on. The reveal and explanation didn't make much sense and left me disappointed. The ending fell flat. I won't be reading the next installment.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It's a heartwarming and adorable romance, about found family and witches. It hit a sweet spot of balancing magic, mystery, and romance and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cosy autumnal tale.

DNF at 23%. It's too slow for me. I just couldn't persevere. 

I loved every minute of this book. It's fantastic! It's beautifully written and, for better or worse, I loved the characters - Trefor being a particular favorite. It's a great standalone novel, telling a complete story which keeps you on your toes throughout. I really enjoyed the style of writing, balancing the magical adventure with both humor and heartache. I'll be adding more books from Emily Lloyd Jones to my tbr.

I usually love a witchy fairytale, but I was really disappointed with this story. It's very repetitive - shadow attacks, run away, attacks again, run away. The whole book reads as filler for a big event, but the ending fell really flat for me. The way it finishes, I thought would lead onto another book, but from what I can find online, this novel is meant to standalone. So it's 300 pages of very little happening. 

The story follows Ivy on the journey to find her birth mother, with the help of her friend Tom.

92% in she then realizes she has feelings for Tom. Why does every male/female friendship have to turn into a relationship.

It's a story of reincarnation, but the characters are too underdeveloped - you learn very little about any of them, and I have no connection or care for anyone involved. Ivy goes round in circles, fighting not to show emotional. She basically repeats "I need to wake the witch" and then "I'm too scared" over and over. The reveal of what happened with her friend Katie is teased throughout, but when you finally learn what happened, it's disappointing. I saw a review that used the description "Tracy Beaker-esque" and I completely agree. 

It's a tale of good vs evil, but it's so predictable that it became boring. I wanted a lot more.

12 short stories about justice, and I really enjoyed all 12. Each focuses on a central character, the committed crime and motive, and the punishment received. They were all very easy to read, and left me wanting more. 

Overall, a very interesting and enjoyable read. Highly recommend.

The line "Bridesmaids meets Black Mirror" hooked me in, and I wasn't disappointed. It's a story of female friendships and the pressure that society pushes on people - expectations to get married, have children, climb the ladder. It's a little too believable in places - the extremes a bride might go to in order to achieve the perfect wedding. I really enjoyed the concept and writing style, with looks into the past to ground the characters, before progressing through the eventful wedding weekend.

I really loved the story concept in this book - learning how the Grim Reaper came to be, and the steps their successor must undergo to take over this role. It's an emotional tale of grief and death, but there's humor in places (such as the Grim eating McDonalds) which broke up the darkness. 

I enjoyed the book overall, and the style of breaking up chapters with poems is different. The poems were short enough that I didn't loose my pacing, and finished this book quite quickly. I would have loved to learn more about the Grim, their journey and point of view, but it makes a clean narrative to just follow our main character Sonny. 

The ending didn't quite work for me, as I wanted something darker to match the rest of the book. But it was still very enjoyable.
