I like this series a lot and would like to give book a higher rating but there are some pacing issues. Some storylines are resolved almost too quickly and some are really drawn out.
For examplethe winter court storyline appears to have a lot of gravitas as Drystan is extremely affected by it throughout the book and then the king and his mother are killed so quickly. And yet the Caed storyline is taking a long time to resolve and just as it looks like it's going to be resolved something new is thrown into the mix.
I don't think that either storyline was too drawn out or was resolved too quickly but it seems uneven at times.
Or maybe it's just a particular plot line that feels overly drawn out because I, as a reader, do not feel invested in the story. When it's obvious that it will be resolved one way and every interruption just means it's putting off the inevitable it becomes annoying .

This series is still holding my attention.
Fast pace and good characters. I'm never a fan of breaking out of prison/captivity stories which is the main part of this novel. But they are out and off to the next adventure

Not so much a popcorn read but looks like it will be an enjoyable read. Decent writing and a good story and the Fae creatures are engaging.
The FMC is the petite blonde type and will have to learn by making mistakes but is super powerful once she is able to figure out her powers. This type of FMC is a real turn off for some, so readers be ware. It doesn't bother me as much as angry or sassy tropes so it is not a game ender.

Its really just a different flavour of Ice Planet Barbarians but it works, so no complaints..
The anchor and aspect idea is original so extra points awarded for that.
It's not a deep book but I am such a sucker for a good love story and also, the dirty talk is top notch

For a fantasy book this was a top notch adventure with a colourful well defined world.
The romance feels a bit unsatisfactory and the ending left some strings loose but I think it's only for the reader's imagination. There is not enough story left to tell between the main characters.
But overall this is a rich story with a mixture of traditional lore and new mythology. The narrator is fantastic.

I really wanted to like this book but it's about teenagers and it's ... Boring.

This series started as a DNF but something compelled me to give it another try and I'm glad it did.
There is a sly humour that permeates the story while the story itself seems fresh and moves quickly. The characters don't spend time ruminating over their choices and the author doesn't bother with long drawn out situations like miscommunications or separations in order to fake a slow burn. Something happens, the characters act, there is an outcome, narrative moves forward. Very satisfying.
The author warns the reader there is a cliffhanger at the end of this novel but it's not a major plot twist. You know it will be resolved but there is enough tension that you will kick yourself for not waiting for the entire series to have been published before reading.
