If you are interested in famous writers from Beatrix Potter to Emile Zola and then want to add in a bit of architecture and lots of gardening, then this book is for you.

It is a lovely combination of writing and photographs that take you right into the gardens and down the paths of exploration.

Jackie Bennett has done a fantastic job of explaining how the gardens came into the writers’ possessions and then how they continued to cultivate the land. She also brings us right up to the 21st century and tells us how the gardens have been preserved and which you are able to ramble around in.

All in all, a lovely coffee table book.

This heart healthy diet book is indeed simple…simple to follow along and would be simple to implement the exercise routine and to create the recipes.

Dr. Crandall offers shopping lists, meal plans, and multiple recipes to start you on your way to a healthier heart. What are you waiting for?!

I think Antastasia Hastings might be on to something with their ‘Dear Miss Hermione’ series. As of this book, all the characters are now in place to triumph over crime in Victorian London with some potential romance mixed in.

While I was able to figure out ‘who dunnit’ rather quickly, the reason why was not so apparent, so the book was enjoyable all the way to the last page.

It will be entertaining to see where the author takes Violet, Sephora, and Bunty in the next book. A caper in an Italian city perhaps?

I read through this book over a couple of days and I feel like there are a lot activities that are easy to do and would help tremendously when overwhelmed with stress. I will say that there are multiple activities that would just help in general with life, even if not particularly stressed about anything, for example, multiple breathing exercises and meditation alternatives.

Even though I felt like the author was a bit long winded in the beginning of the book, I appreciated all the resets and buffers that she recommended when I finally reached those chapters. I, also, enjoyed the reasons ‘why’ behind all of her suggestions.

At the end of the book, she did a great job of referencing all of the sources for the different activities, so that you would be able to follow up if one reset or buffer was particularly helpful and you wanted to know more.

The Hexologists

So, let’s start with ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars! I adored this book. I have not read any of Josiah Bancroft’s previous novels, so I had no expectations going in for how he developed characters, his storytelling style, or his world building. Let’s just say he accomplished all of them with high marks from my point of view.

From the wonderfully strong, but flawed Iz, to the burly, sensitive War, they are a power couple. And let’s not forget the fiery Felivox (you’ll understand…just read the book) the characters are well rounded, and utterly charming.

The plot to the book is Sherlock Holmes meets a throughly enjoyable magic system. Bancroft did explain quite a bit of his magical world throughout the book, but he also left many stones to overturn and explore in the future.

If you like a well written, thought out world, with lively, witty banter and an intriguing mystery, then this book is for you!
