I’m not sure what to say about this book. It is a lot to take in, especially since all of us lived through COVID.
The extent to which the author goes to portray how it would have felt to be Chinese (or really any person of Asian descent) during that time period and going forward is remarkable.
This is definitely a horror story and it is very gory since the MC is a crime scene cleaner and also, unfortunately, experiences death up close in her personal life. It is not for the faint of heart, but I feel like it would benefit most to read it for the underlying lessons.
Your words have meaning. Racism is just below the surface and we all know it is being shown in horrific ways even to this day.

This book definitely takes you on a horrific ride with three sisters who have a very strained relationship. They are all fighting demons, but one fights with real knives and a purpose.
It is very quick paced and flips back and forth between the sisters and the ‘butcher’, but it is easy to follow and not confusing. It will keep you guessing until the end, most likely!
It is indeed very graphic when it comes to the murders of men, so be warned.
There are also multiple things that deserve trigger warnings and the author has placed the warning in the front!
Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the digital ARC!

Short and perfect. I wanted to get this read in before I watched the new tv show, although I did have Alexander Skarsgård in my brain as I was reading. Call that fortunate or unfortunate, as you will.
I will definitely continue the series!

Well, well, well…I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end! The author was able to combine 1950’s (un)sensibility with 21st century dystopian, sci-fi! I was able to figure out a few things before they happened, but when my suspicions were confirmed it was more of a “Yes! *fist pump*” than an “of course.” This novel is a fast paced, what will happen next wild ride! So hop on board, just be careful where the bus drops you off!
I am excited to see where this story goes and I hope Melissa Pace is working diligently on the next book in the series! I will be first in line to read it!
Thank you to Henry Holt & Company and NetGalley for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest review!

A super cozy fantasy read. If you are in-between some hard hitting books and want a fun, easy-to-read break, this is the book for you. Think “The Spellshop” vibes.
I would be happy to spend the day in the world of Adenashire.

An entertaining book if you are one for clues, ciphers, and digging for answers. Think ‘National Treasure,’ but with a teenaged MC.
I think what has made me give such a low rating is because it is marketed as Adult Fiction when really I feel it should be New Adult or Young Adult.
The author did do a wonderful job representing a headstrong, smart, neurodivergent main character.
Thanks to Random House/Ballantine Books and NetGalley for the digital ARC.

Christopher Moore has written another highly entertaining book in the way only he can. Sublime humor. Tricky subject matter at times, but always approached with care even if borderline offensive.
He has perfected the ability to weave the stories of real historical figures like Klimt and Schiele, with equally as famous fictional characters and make it totally believable.
Take a trip to Vienna you won’t be disappointed!
Many thanks to William Morrow and NetGalley for the digital ARC.

What a delightful read! It was so refreshing to read a book with mature main characters. The author has also flawlessly captured the ups and downs that go along with being married, although maybe minus the murder.
Highly entertaining the whole way through!
I can’t wait to read more from Sue Hincenbergs.
Thank you to William Morrow and NetGalley for the digital ARC.

This charming book will delight witches young and old. The book is written from the point of view of an eight year old hedgewitch. They take us through the year dispensing thoughtful to-do lists, hints for dealing with fairies, delightful interviews with important magic dwellers, and helpful magical recipes! The illustrations are an added bonus…sweet watercolors!
This would be a wonderful gift for a witch in your life, or anyone who likes a little bit a outdoor whimsy.
