I’m not sure what to say about this book. It is a lot to take in, especially since all of us lived through COVID.
The extent to which the author goes to portray how it would have felt to be Chinese (or really any person of Asian descent) during that time period and going forward is remarkable.
This is definitely a horror story and it is very gory since the MC is a crime scene cleaner and also, unfortunately, experiences death up close in her personal life. It is not for the faint of heart, but I feel like it would benefit most to read it for the underlying lessons.
Your words have meaning. Racism is just below the surface and we all know it is being shown in horrific ways even to this day.
