I enjoyed the audio a lot, plus there was an author interview that I enjoyed. As for the book itself, it was a foreboding mystery with an unlikeable narrator and an ending that you will most likely have big feelings about! The interview definitely gave me more clarity into what the author was trying to say, and I would’ve been left in the dark if I hadn’t listened to it. It’s odd at first, then it gets strange, and then finally macabre, and if anyone else has read this book, I would love to hear any and all thoughts.

Slow, dry writing. I wonder if it might pop more in the original Icelandic.

This book was a lot different than the first one, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. The tone was much more serious, and it wasn’t as action-packed. The characters went through more internal struggles, so I think it would’ve helped me to know that going in. The audio was fantastic, and there was even an interview between Hank Green and Cory Doctorow at the end.
I give the book 3.5 to 4 stars for the slower pacing, but it gave me so much to think about. It reminded me a bit of Ready Player One and The Matrix combined, since it had to do with virtual or alternate realities. But there’s so much to chew on, because Hank Green writes sci-fi but he also writes about how these technologies could affect our every day lives in a way that was so tangible. I think the book really captures what he set out to do.
