This book was excellent. Super readable, inspiring, and informative. One of the best quotes is "You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems." At first this may seem a little discouraging. But James Clear handily explains why this is, why we often set ourselves up for failure by not taking the time to change our environments to give us the push we need to succeed. I was also really encouraged by the idea that little changes and the idea of showing up every day can make substantial change. It often starts with an interesting story of example, many of them fascinating such as stories about Olympic bikers, Grand Masters of chess, healthcare workers, and businesspeople finding success. Highly highly recommended!
A difficult read, presented as a graphic novel, but very affecting. I'm glad I read it to expand my knowledge of Iran.
Thoroughly enjoyed these short stories. They are full of unexpected happenings, like when Firoozeh's father gets to meet a very famous physicist, or when she and her husband meet someone from her hometown during a vacation to the tropics. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a fun, light read.
3.5 stars. Written very much for this time, with social media, tech, race relations, young adult angst, and the widening gap between the classes all playing a role. But the story itself is one that should resonate with anyone. The characters struggle with self-awareness, and consequently it leads to misunderstandings between them. Definitely a page turner and a book to think about.
