First things first, I LOVE the dad bod rep. While I enjoy a good ripped and chiseled to the gods mmc I do prefer to read books with more realistic characters and body representation.

Now, onto the content. I am 15% in and Cassandra is honestly just mean, rude, whatever you want to call it. A badass fmc is great, but she doesn’t seem to be girl bossing for any particular reason, she’s just unlikable. I might change my mind as I go on but right now she seems like a stuck up snob. At this point I think Tripp and Cassandra deserve each other LOL. Christian seems really sweet and gentlemanly so idk how or why he would be interested in Cassandra (who doesn’t seem to like children or animals) besides her being hot and having a nice ass 🙄

Now at 41% - Christian is a whole MAN. Still don’t like Cassandra at all. Like how are you that mean to children that have expressed a grave interest in spending time with you/wanting to be/look like you?? In my head I know Cassandra is going to come around because it’s HEA but I’m also just annoyed with her immature behavior like girl go to therapy or something (which she also makes fun of).

At 49% - Cassandra told a child to shut the fuck up? And Christian told her more than once not to talk to his children like that and she still does it. UGH why is she like this. I get that she was trying to give advice before the situation was handled but there’s a time and a place.

OKAY the smut is smutting!! 🫦

At 70% - CHRISTIAN MF GRIFFITH AHHHH. “Don’t stand outside pressing your ear to the door when there’s a seat for you at the table.” What a king honestly. I am warming up a little to Cassandra but the work he is doing to get her to warm up is not worth the trouble imo. Good father. Good manners. Good dirty talk. Hard worker. And she’s still over here acting like he’s a one night stand and giving her unsolicited opinion on parenthood when she doesn’t like, want, or have kids.

In my opinion, Cassandra should have groveled more and I think they decided their relationship in the end kind of quick. She was so against it and then in one night she was like okay I’ll stay. Overall it was cute, smut was good, and the family dynamic was wholesome. Onto the next!
fast-paced
Loveable characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I’m not even sure what to write. I continued because I don’t DNF books but the way this was formatted and the writing style was all over to me. The back and forth view points were hard to keep track of and I thought the mmc’s possessiveness was kind of annoying lol (and I love a good broody possessive mmc). It was VERY insta lust/love and I get the
fated mates
thing but it couldn’t have happened idk like more than 24 hours after they met.
They literally kissed after knowing each other for like 30 minutes, he fed on her slightly, and then boom fated mates

I don’t think I can see myself continuing the series unfortunately :/

This took me 3 months to finish and I’m usually a quick reader. I would say it’s very plot heavy and can be a little slow and clunky in some parts. But I absolutely loved the world, the characters, the found family, and the sslloooowwww burn romance.
Orin and Dey are 🤭
I literally sobbed when Hollis died and then when we got to see him again in deaths kingdom with his wife UGH
overall I thought this book was great and I enjoyed it despite some slow moving pieces. This is not the book for you if you are looking for a spicy, quick moving plot, romantic fantasy read. There was no sexual intimacy (besides kissing) between the main characters until the late 400s I believe but boy was it worth the wait for the final giving in moment.

Ugh I love this series - read it in one sitting. I love the world building, the lore, the magic, the characters. While it was similar to phantasma I still loved the way it had its own flare. I wish it was longer and the ending was more fleshed out! I wish we got more of a peek into Rowin’s feelings as we did Vivi’s. What’s next?!

My first historical fantasy romance! I loved the mmc and fmc. I mean who doesn’t love an mmc so utterly obsessed with his girl? He’s broody but sweet and loves to praise her.

I hope KM makes this a series so we can see Niall’s story!

I liked the story overall. Very emotional and vulnerable and the character growth was definitely there.

I figured out that I do not prefer a dom/sub relationship when the Dom is female lol. This was my first book with that dynamic and it was ok but we all have preferences!
