This was by turns interesting, enjoyable, and occasionally infuriating. A group of very different people comes together to find a new minister for their church. There are conflicts and arguments, but also friendship and love. I found myself caring very much, not only about the outcome of the search but about the people involved.

I enjoyed this, and the illustrations are beautiful, but I wanted the world to be fleshed out a bit more and for there to be a bit more to the story than there was.

This took me forever to get through, and I lost track of what was going on numerous times. It was weird and sometimes ridiculous, but I did rather like it.

This was a fascinating account of the career of someone I had only heard of through O'Hooley and Tidow's song "Beryl". Beryl Burton was a tremendous athlete at a time when women really weren't supposed to excel as she did, and certainly weren't supposed to beat the men as she often did. She comes across as a great character - talented, determined, extremely hard-working, and not always easy to get on with.

An interesting insight about how social mores regarding the role of women have been superimposed onto Christianity to justify the subjugation and exclusion of women. The discussion of women taking leadership roles in the early and medieval church was enlightening.

This was a fun read with great characters and a lot going on. Love the period setting. Will Darling is a great hero, a bit out of his depth in the world of the upper class and of espionage, but definitely able to hold his own. Loved this.

Well, I like character-driven books,  but I need something to happen, and almost nothing does in this book. I did like it, but it was a bit too philosophical for me to love it.

An interesting mix of different styles of poems all relating to the natural world and the environment. Inevitably, there were some poems I liked more than others, but overall it was a worthwhile read.

This was fascinating, especially the links between tuberculosis and so much of history. It was also infuriating, in that TB is treatable, but so many people in poorer countries are suffering and dying because effective treatment is unaffordable for them. Beautifully narrated by John Green himself.

This was okay, although I really disliked one of the narrators. The basic premise of one character inheriting money, not once but twice, from mystery benefactors, was a bit over the top, and there were some coincidences that stretched my credulity rather. Still, there were likable characters and a nice family dynamic.
