This was okay, but none of the characters were particularly likeable, and there were two chapters that took the reader away from the main storyline, which I found annoying.

The best type of narrative non-fiction, this manages to be at once very personal and to look at things in a much wider context, juxtaposing the story of the 1936 Olympic gold medal rowers against the propaganda of Nazi Germany. A fascinating and engrossing and inspiring story.

A fascinating insight into the world of international adoptions and the links between birth and adoptive families. Not always comfortable reading, but very interesting.

A wonderful book that I read right through in a day. Three timelines in a "Sliding Doors" scenario, each begun by the choice of what to name a baby boy. Each timeline was sad, but there was joy and redemption there too, and great characterisation, and a real mix of characters. A contender for my best book of the year.

I loved this. I read the back-to-back stories a chapter at a time, one from each, but it would work just as well to read one and then the other. Very cleverly done: I enjoyed finding the links between the stories. Both stories were interesting, though I preferred the 1939 one to the earlier one.

An enjoyable (to read, not for them!) second outing for Will Darling and Kim Sheraton. Great characters with a realistic relationship with a lot of ups and downs. I really like this series.

An interesting mix of short stories with believable characters, and stories that more often than not harked back to events in the past and their impact in the present. Compulsive reading.

I waited a long time to get hold of this book, and it was well worth the wait. Colton is a great hero, very human and fallible, but lovable and trying his best. Heart-warming and life-affirming and just lovely.

A lovely cozy fantasy with enough danger to keep you wondering, even though you just know it will turn out in the end. Great characters (especially the talking plant) and a healthy dollop of romance.
