Alan Grant remains one of my favourite fictional detectives, and this is my favourite Alan Grant novel/He is so human, and the mysteries are always unexpected and interesting. Great side characters too.

I enjoyed watching this, but it took me a long time to get through the text, and I didn't wade through all the footnotes!

A really good story with so much going on. One of my favourites of a great series. One or two really memorable scenes in this one that will stay with me.

Another great Rivers of London book. Not my favourite of the series, but still pretty darn good.

Fascinating and informative, with a real undercurrent of suspense when we "knew" but the author didn't. I did feel that the author was too sympathetic to Bundy, even once she knew and had accepted what he had done.

Slow-moving historical fiction with flawed but generally likeable characters you can believe in and root for. Great descriptions; a real sense of place with the sweeping and sometimes dangerous prairie. A touch of magical realism. A favourite.

This is a wonderful book. On the first reading, I got lost in the language and descriptions and enjoyed the individual stories spread over time. But, on finishing, I realised I had lost the thread of the overall story, so I re-read it to follow that story better.

Lots of things to love here, notably magical realism and dual timeline, and storylines that drew me in. but lost a star for

A dysfuntional family, who are basically likeable, and do their best by each other in the face of gtruly appalling behaviour by others.
