Honestly, I am so bored with this book. I haven't read in over 6 weeks, and I thought that reading a book by my favourite author would help me get back into it. It's not helping at all. I am not engaged with the characters or the story. It's soooooo slow. It doesn't feel like the Kristin Hannah who wrote The Great Alone or Firefly Lane to me. One day, I may come back to this. But for now, I think I need to try something else to get back into a reading groove.

It's been a few years since I've read a Taylor Jenkins Reid book. I have to say, I wasn't overwhelmed with emotion or joy about this book like I thought I might be. It was cute and I liked it, but I didn't feel any sort of emotional connection to it. Personally, I wonder if I've just lived too much life that Hannah and Gabby and their stories didn't resonate with me?

And yes, it's interesting to think about a multi-verse and I like how Reid played with that element and had her readers explore two different life paths for Hannah and Gabby. But maybe because I recently DNF'd Dark Matter by Blake Crouch (which explores a similar theme from a sci-fi/thriller angle) I also couldn't get into this idea fully.

However, I did appreciate the strong female friendship featured in this novel. Similar to In Five Years by Rebecca Serle, I found this book to be more about female friendship than romantic love.
I couldn't choose a favourite between the two characters - I liked Gabby's spunk and I liked Hannah's willingness to see the positive after dealing with trauma.

I'm not as excited to read older backlist titles by Taylor Jenkins Reid now, but since I am somewhat of a completionist when it comes to reading, I probably still will pick them up at some point.
