I really liked how this book explores the fandom culture around true crime and society’s obsession with serial killers. Why do we glamorize them? Why do we consume their stories like entertainment? It definitely left me thinking!

If you find this topic interesting, I highly recommend Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. That book shifts the focus away from the killer and gives a voice to the victims, which was such a refreshing and powerful take.

This was incredibly slow. It took over half the book for the action to really kick in, and by then, the constant POV shifts made it hard to stay engaged. It felt like just as things were getting interesting, the plot would stall again.

Speaking of POVs… this is a prime example of a male author writing female characters questionably. There are three female perspectives, one of which is young and attractive and the other two are middle aged. Those two keep staring at themselves in the mirror, worrying about aging and their looks. Really? 🙄

Not a favorite, unfortunately. 2.5/5

Some stories were more interesting to me than others—my favorites were Reason and Liar!.

Overall, I can see why this is considered a classic but I don’t think it aged particularly well. There’s some outdated/triggering language and poor representation—something to keep in mind if you're picking it up.
The writing style (mostly dialogue-heavy storytelling) wasn’t my favorite.

A fantastic read that beautifully explores grief, love, and sisterhood.

The plot must be what it feels like to have bad ADHD.

This book tries so hard to be offbeat that it feels like chaos for chaos’s sake. There are too many plotlines, too many eccentric characters, and too many random scenarios that don’t quite come together. It’s as if the author had a list of quirky ideas and crammed every single one into the story. While some moments are amusing, the lack of focus made it a frustrating read.

An easy, fast-paced read that I finished in one sitting on the plane. But… while the plot kept me turning pages, the characters felt a bit shallow and lacked depth.

Almost DNF’d this one because of the way it played into harmful mental health stigmas and misogynistic views on women’s appearances. Thankfully, this improved in the second half!

👎 Without any spoilers: the ending was disappointing (and the more I think about it the more it winds me up!)

This book had a gripping and terrifyingly realistic premise. The world-building was intense, and I couldn’t help but feel uneasy knowing that this is already happening in some parts of the world.

While I loved the overall premise, some of the characters felt a bit over the top, which made it hard for me to fully connect with them. That took away some of the impact for me.

Loved the male lead but the female lead was a struggle .. unlikeable characters in a romance make it tough
