“One other tradition is to take a long look at one you hold dear before entering the darkness. You can hold their image in your mind's eye to light your way.”
That sounded potentially awkward. As Brand and Addam turned to face me, I stepped aside and looked at all of them. From a well-behaved Ciaran; to the Tower; to the man I intended to choose as a consort one day; and the man who'd always been the best part of my soul.

How am I supposed to go on with my life now??? The amount of suspense!! All the things that are still to unfold??? Now that we've learned much of what Rune knows yet still so much that he Doesn't Know???? And how desperately, fervently, I want Addam to get with Brand to, or whatever???

I probably have rot for brains because now whenever I read something with virtually no spice levels, my brain immediately cooks it up. Not in a thirsty way, but like, the way that emotional connections can be elevated when you take them through certain aspects. Ugh. But this IS so damn near close to absolute perfection as far as fantasies go with me.

Solid world-building, characters that just about jump out of the page!! I keep wanting to stop thirsting after Brand, it's distracting, ugh.

What a good series. I seriously hope I can get a next installment soon, crazy to think we are literally only 1/3 into the story.

“How am I supposed to keep you alive for another century?”
I started laughing. What else was I supposed to do? Everyone should have a Brand.

this was SUCH a good book!!! The first one was good enough, but the amount I loved this one even more?? The amount of times I cried??

I love Rune and Brand with my entire heart, and even Addam is starting to grow on me. The building of Rune’s court is so very very special, his found family and all the details. All the kids! Max, Quinn and now Ana and Corbie too, how the heck did I come to care for these characters so deeply?? Now I already dread finishing the next book and having to wait until who knows how long for the next book 😩😩😩

Mr. Edwards you are a superb writer and I’m not even mad at you for not giving us any more intimate scenes.

“This is why most of our assignments don’t involve anything more complicated than you shooting something and me setting fires.”

this was so very very interesting, even more than what i had expected it to be, though i also did cry more than what the expected and i think i might be shipping this wrong...

“If you have to, it doesn’t make you bad. I'd leave me if I could. Walk right out of this body. Shit.” Daniel almost smiled. “I’ve tried. So many times. But I’m always here.”

i actually thought this would be way darker than what it ended up being? which is not a bad thing at all, because at first i thought this would hurt too much and was reticent about reading it. turns out it was interesting, and yea it hurt at times, but this was a story about two people trying to figure themselves out and that is always a banger with me, so that was cool.
