An honest, raw, vulnerable look into the author's experience through a child's narrative on immigrating to the United States. Beautiful Country is a powerfully moving story that brings forth empathy to a world in which more is absolutely needed.

The audiobook is narrated by Qian Julie Wang herself, which really elevated the whole reading experience.

This was a charmingly cheesy, hilarious, fast paced story with a second chance romance to boot. It actually felt more like a cozy mystery more than anything, without the entire mystery aspect because we already know who did the crime. Even so, this was pure chaotic, outrageous fun.

I can see this story translating well on screen and lucky for us it's in the works thanks to Netflix!! I can't wait for that.

I absolutely adore Salaam, with Love! Rich in culture, faith and family, this young adult novel is a delightfully heartwarming read. You can feel how grounded the author is in her faith and family because of how beautifully she was able to portray that on the page.

As a non Muslim reader, I truly appreciated the backdrop of Ramadan and watching our protagonist partake in it's traditions with her extended family. The ultra sweet, slow burn romance between Dua and Hassan was so darn cute- especially with the wholesome ending!! YES.

From perusing reviews by Islamic readers, the representation in this gem is amazing! Further still, I encourage you to check out some own voice reviews to get the full effect on how incredible this book is.

I hope Beg has future projects in the works because I will definitely be reading anything she puts out.

Written by a real life convenience store worker, Convenience Store Woman is a quirky read that reflected the societal pressures of what is deemed a normal way of life.

I enjoyed the quiet humor woven into Keiko's story and was happy to see her own heroism shine through in not conforming in the end.

second read (july 2022): 4 stars
Lord have mercy on my soul. I'm still unsure about where tf the story is headed but I enjoyed it all over again. Am I a little bit trash for Dom&Sean? Probably- just a smidge and a half.

I have no clue what I just read but the spice???? hi hello, its hawttt af thank you kate for your service. I knew exactly nothing going into this one, and that was probably the best way to do it!

The mystery surrounding the Ravenhood still very much intrigues me and I cannot wait to see where Exodus takes us. All I know is that it breaks your soul and makes people sob but I am here for ittt.

I love how much this was reminiscent of The Hunger Games being dark, gritty, and quite brutal.

The magic system was new & interesting which is refreshing in a fantasy novel. My only complaint is that I wish there was more world building to understand the history behind the culture of the society in which this story takes place.

Other than that I am interested to see how this duology concludes!

Exquisite. Stunning. Obsessed.✨

I’m sobbing. I was completely enamored the whole way through.

Just wow! This is a new favorite book for sure.

I can’t wait to binge the rest of MZ’s backlist!

This was such an intriguing start to a series! The story itself seemed a bit juvenile at times, but overall a very entertaining read.

I can definitely see why there is so much hype surrounding it because this was hard to put down. I'm definitely interested to see how the story for the Vega twins continues.
