I love how much this was reminiscent of The Hunger Games being dark, gritty, and quite brutal.

The magic system was new & interesting which is refreshing in a fantasy novel. My only complaint is that I wish there was more world building to understand the history behind the culture of the society in which this story takes place. 

Other than that I am interested to see how this duology concludes!
