Thank you Luna Literary for an ALC of this book! Its been on my tbr for a while now, and when i saw this audiobook as an option i was SO excited and signed up so fast.

For the audio production; Connor Crais can do literally no wrong. He was perfect casting for this, and i low key hopes he and Samantha do the remaining books as well. I LOVE duet narration, having the lines go back and forth opposed to each chapter adds a whole new level to the story. It makes each scene more immersive and I'm always so joyful when authors choose that style for their books. I genuinely cant think of a time where a dual pov book wouldn't be improved by duet reading. Most of the time when i have issues with an audiobook performance, its because of how a male VO does his female voice, or how a female VO does their male voice. But with duet - you eliminate that!

As for the story; love love love love. I wanted this to be a 5 star really badly, but the relationship between Grant and Laney felt a little... shallow? Not as deep as i expected? I'm not sure how to explain it... I mean they barely knew each other and it felt like they barely talked about each other. Most of their relationship was physical and surface level. Their love felt real and solid, but it low key felt like it was built upon a foundation of just lust and attraction. (And tbf they're both so hot, so i get it)

Aside from that, this book was a dream. our two mc's are so dreamy on their own, it sent my bisexual ass in a tizzy. They're both so strong and powerful. So worried about protecting the people they love, and doing whatever their can for the family they've surrounded themselves with.

The suspense aspect of the book was also really cool. I love the plot we got, start to finish. It added an additional level to the found family, touch (them) and die, etc, aspects to this story i wasn't anticipating.

This was my first book from Victoria Wilder, and I'm suuuuper happy with how this story went, her writing style, and how she makes her characters. I'm so incredibly excited for the next book in this story, and i just fell in love with the world Wilder built for us.
