To be honest I had a hard time figuring out how to write a review for this. For me this story just landed so differently than it did 16 years ago. I loved this series originally and only have fond memories of it. 

 

But this time around the book felt unnecessary long with some parts dragging on. Then there were some storylines didn’t really feed the plot-line OR just added more to the plate that was already overflowing! It just felt like there was zero sense of urgency throughout (character driven or plot driven) which I don’t remember from my first time through. On top of the lack of urgency there was a lot of “remember this from book one or two” that just wasn’t needed. 

 

Overall I think it was a good finish to the trilogy and most of the questions are answered by the end. Again this is an amazing YA fiction series great for teens. There is a lot of things a young girl can connect to and see a young girl figure out the kind of woman she wants to be! 

 

Listening to this as an audiobook most likely saved the reread for me as I may have put the book aside for me to pick later if I wasn’t listening to it. 

 The series reread continues. 

 

After the energy in the first book it’s clear the second book was ready to dig to deeper, darker places. We also get to see more of the realms and of those that dwell there. 

 

This instalment to the series adds more depth to each character and intern each character brings the story to a new level. Wth that you get closer to characters you may not have been fond of in the first book. I look forward to see how the third book expands the story, the characters, and the power of the realms. 

 

I feel like I remember Kartik being a much bigger part of the story, but perhaps his role gets bigger in the third book or my adolescent self made him bigger in my mind. 

 

It feels very much like a book written in the early 2000s. Not mad at it. Still going to read the last one. 

 

Through all my rereads since last summer I’m learning nostalgia is a powerful drug! 

This is apart of my audiobook reread of books from when I was younger. Vampires really did take up so many stories of the 2000's and Im not mad at it! True nostalgia! 

I recommend listening to the audiobook as I have enjoyed listening as I walked my dog and cooked dinner. If its a reread for you, audiobook is the way to go!

Nothing really major happens in the first book of this series but it definitely sets up the next few books with what starts to happen. its world building and character building at its finest and thats about all that goes on. It was fun getting to know the characters again and how much a remember from the first time I read this like 17 years ago!

There are some references that characters make that I don't think some teens would understand today but boy did it take me back. 

I love the magic created in this series and connections in makes to the natural world. Already have the next audiobook ready to go on my phone! 

Really like the female characters in this book and can see why each got their own story! 

Everyone deserves to have love melt the ice around their heart and to find their person. Sunshine will always find a way into the darkest places! And Alex is one dark character driven by all things vengeance! 

Was the storyline far fetched, totally! But did that help me remove myself from reality and read this story in two days with smut carrying said story, 100%! 

This book will not be for everyone!

I felt like some of the character interactions in the last half of the book were there to set up the next couple in book two but they also helped move the story forward so it didn’t feel pushed. The ending felt rushed a bit but the extra scene at the end is a bonus spicy send off. 

Rumour has it that Twisted Love is not the best of the series so I’m interested to see where the rest go! Ready to read more twisted smut in the near future! 

When I read this book last year, it felt like some thing at the end was missing but I couldn’t put a finger in it! It was still a 4.5 star read for me, I  loved it. After listening to it I realized it needs to be an audiobook!  This audiobook is incredibly done, and the characters I loved the first time around I found myself falling more in love with them. They had their nuances spoken out loud. There were moments that didn’t hit in the book but when  the narrator took a breath, you got pulled in, and it was so beautiful! I devoured this audiobook in 2 days while I did some housework, and I am sad I didn’t listen to it sooner! 

Do yourself a favor and listen to the audiobook!
