I enjoyed this light hearted romance, other than the voice the male narrator used for the FMC...

This book is extremely vulnerable, incredibly honest, I definitely feel a lot of what is said here, just overall didn't love this one as much as I thought I would.

This book was made for me. It fills my little neurodivergent heart with so much love!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ALC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
There's a lot of great in this historical novel. I enjoy how the author weaves through so many women's lives. The writing style is almost poetic, and the narration is lovely. My only complaint is how eurocentric the book is. I wish women of color were given a role in the novel.
Definitely worth a read, just now it's not terribly diverse.

An epic historical fiction novel based on the true story of Dorothy Kirwan Thomas, covering nearly her entire life. Highly recommend, c especially the audio. Adjoa Andoh does a phenomenal job with the narration, especially considering how many characters there are in the book, of many different dialects.

First off, WTF did I just read? And I mean that in the most positive way! I laughed out loud, I was completely grossed out, I still don't entirely know what happened, and I loved every minute of it!
This book is set in three parts, each following a different woman through the pandemic/apocalypse, but they all converge in the end. I loved all three of these characters, and seriously wanted more when the book ended.
If you're in the mood for something not quite like anything else you've ever read, then this is the book for you!

What a wild ride! This book kept me on the edge of my seat, and always guessing! A fun puzzle of a book! Definitely going to check out the rest of the trilogy!

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
There's a lot to love about this story. I love the look at Vietnamese culture in New Orleans, the fun vibes of a chance meeting at Mardi Gras, the close knit family and friends dynamics present for both MCs, the goals of both MCs and how that planned out, the descriptions of all the food!
But, overall, the love story itself just didn't do it for me. I didn't really believe these two characters fell in love so quickly, and I'm not opposed to an insta-love trope, those one just didn't fully capture my heart. I wanted more from them, and honestly, I wanted more about the art and the film, that part was the most interesting for me.
All in all, a worthy read.
