Maybe I had too high of expectations, but this has just too many "baby girl"'s for me, and just didn't really do it for me... I was upset there wasn't more about the fixing up of houses.

"Kinder than is necessary. Because it’s not enough to be kind. One should be kinder than needed. Why I love that line, that concept, is that it reminds me that we carry with us, as human beings, not just the capacity to be kind, but the very choice of kindness."

I wish I had read this sooner. I got a lot out of this book and absolutely love bell hooks writing style. I would recommend this book to anyone.
It should be noted, this was written in 2001, so some language would probably be updated if it were to be released now. It's very heavy on the gender binary. It's also very God heavy, so just be aware if that's not your thing. Spirituality can definitely take different forms than just God, and that is talked about too. I myself am not a believer and those things did not detract from the overall message for me.

A winter novel with surprising depth. Enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Only real complaints are the amount of mentions of God and the fact that the MC regrets not having kids, which I feel like was somewhat unnecessary. Not all women who don't have kids regret that decision. This character had enough other regrets that I didn't feel that needed to be one of them, but perhaps I'm biased since I'm a grown woman without kids who doesn't regret the decision.

I could not put this one down. Absolutely devoured it. The tension is high throughout the book. A thriller akin to Get Out combined with the Devil Wears Prada. Definitely recommend.
Once you read it, come talk to me about it! Very interested to discuss it, and hear what others think!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC of this novel!
I feel I need to begin this review by saying that Ever After is one of my favorite movies of all time, so it should come as no shock that I absolutely loved this book! A little Bridgerton, well actually a lot Bridgerton, a bit Ever After, a lot of heart. The Duke is just so lovely, and while I wish Charlotte had come clean sooner, you know it never happens that way, especially not with how manipulative her step father is! All in all, this was good fun, with just a bit of spice. Definitely recommend if you're a fan of either Bridgerton or Ever After and don't mind the lying... Will definitely need checking out additional novels by this author!

This story is so cute! I just love Romana and feel for her so much! The story reminds me a bit of Verona Comics, a bit of You've Got Mail, but with a bit less at stake. Love it when the nerd <gets the guy without changing herself for him!>
Zoleka Vundla does a phenomenal job as narrator!

This book started out strong. I really enjoyed it until about 3/4 of the way in. Overall, I still liked this book, but the ending just didn't do it for me.

Necromancers in spaaaaaace!!! Loved this story. So many twists, and unexpected revelations. Loved all the characters, but reader beware, get attached to no one! Excited to read the next installment!
