I could not put it down. I stayed up all night reading it.

It’s one of those books where you can’t put it down but you don’t want it to end.

Let me start off by saying how excited I was to read this book. Jon Krakauer reviewed it so I figured it must be good. ⠀

The book started off a slow, I mean SNAILS PACE. With a lot of unnecessary build up that could have been cut down substantially and still get the point across. ⠀

About half way through the book, it finally picked up and once it did. It didn’t stop. ⠀

This memoir was heartbreaking, of the journey and the fight of a man searching for his son and searching for answers. Going against what people were telling him. ⠀

Review to come

I somehow missed this book through my high school years. Looking back I wished we had read this than a number of other books pushed on us.

I found this book hard to put down once I started it and found myself waking up with the book in my face multiple times.

Highly recommend this book especially to the younger crowd. There are some important lessons to be found in this book.

The beautiful thing about this book is how Adam Shoalts writes it to make you feel like you’re there with him. His love and respect for the wilderness is nothing short of awe inspiring.
