meh… It’s a good book but is missing something. I enjoyed reading it but it didn’t blow me away. I wish there was more time spent on Ty’s story and even more about Shane too. I also wish that they didn’t end up together. It just didn’t feel real and too fairytale ish.

I can’t lie the beginning of the book was slow. I couldn’t get myself to care about Cherry until the chapter where her mom starts to die. But then her story got very interesting. I loveeeee the wrap up in the end where everyone comes together and you see the similarities between Cherrys past and these people. I wish there was more closure on Ethan’s story because it was the most interesting one in my opinion. Ethan and Allegra’s chapters were the best ones. While I did really like the ending and didn’t predict that it was a coincidence, I wish more people died lmao. I think Allegra could have been a really interesting character to kill so that you can further explore how someone can push themselves to suicide (especially if they played on the back surgery/pain killers causing a mental spiral) I fully expected Carter to kill Ethan because it was clearly written to trick us into thinking that. I liked this book a lot but didn’t love it. I’d recommend it to people but don’t plan on owning it and rereading.

Only Kristin Hannah could get me to be interested in the Dust Bowl. This story frustrated me like no other… not out of dislike for the plot or characters, but because I wanted everyone to get help. It was so incredibly frustrating to read about the family dealing with hardship after hardship and genuinely thinking there will be no better but this really drove the message home. If I’m tense and anxious reading this, imagine the real life people going through this.
Not my favorite KH book but really good nonetheless. She never fails to get me out of a reading slump. I finished this book with a greater appreciation for the Dust Bowl era as well as an eerie feeling of deja vu given the current events in 2025. It was a little slow in the beginning/middle but I was never bored or wanting to skim. I also feel from a writing perspective that this section needed to be so uneventful to hone in just how bad the dust bowl was. If the first half of the book was quicker paced, I don’t think the reader would understand the utter desperation and destruction as much.
I loved Elsa so much and just wanted the best for her.I hate that she had to die but it was a very good way to end the book. I didn’t cry until then and I think that ending made the story all the more powerful for the reader. I loved loved loved the way KH wrote the mother-daughter relationship between Elsa and Loreda. It was relatable and emotional and so raw. I could’ve read another 400 pages just about them. The rest of the family was so easy to love too except Rafe, even though I did feel for him. He deserved better too but he lost sympathy by ditching his entire family. I would love to know if/where KH thinks he ended up.
I also loved the short relationship between Jack and Elsa. I think the way Elsa opened up to him and changed for the better was well written. I enjoyed the dynamic between them and it never felt too cheesy. I would’ve even loved more time spent building that relationship up before Elsa’s death.
Like any other KH book, grab your box of tissues and get ready to ride the emotional roller coaster.

The best FM book i’ve read so far but still not too impressed. I was shocked by the twists but the characters felt so undeveloped that I wasn’t that interested in what happened to them. I didn’t really hate or love any character they were all just meh… I think i’m not a FM fan and just don’t enjoy how she writes characters. The plot was interesting though. I didn’t hate it and was even entertained while reading but I have no interest in the rest of the series or rereading this.

The Goodbye Cat is such a sweet collection of cat stories. I enjoyed how a lot of them were interconnected. I cried at many of the stories in this book. If you love cats and are ready to cry, this is a must read.

As a fan of Drew’s content, it’s fun to learn more about her life in this book, but the themes weren’t anything new. It’s good to read about women’s rights and respecting yourself, but I think it’s far too repetitive for anyone older than 16yo. I found myself skimming through a lot of this book but I ended up finishing it because I enjoyed the personal stories. Not a waste of time to read, but it’s not going to change the way you think most likely.

It was an emotional story and fairly interesting but nothing blew me away. I’ll probably forget about this book in a week. It wasn’t a waste of time to read but it wasn’t anything special to me.
To be honest, the ending disappointed me. I get why the author choseto have her die surrounded by her friends and show that you can be loved until the end, but I think the whole assisted suicide storyline should’ve happened. There was so much to go into involving the ethics, her friends receiving the letters, etc. I also hated how Monty died. It’s cute that Rose got a kitten but I wish she got Monty instead. I did really enjoy that Eudora wasn’t men-focused. Her and Stanley staying platonic and not romantic was nice to see.
To be honest, the ending disappointed me. I get why the author chose
Every time I tried to read this I would just get distracted. It couldn’t hold my attention and ultimately put me in a reading slump. I’ll try this book again this year.

I wasn’t expecting there to be so much focus on eating disorders but this book is written beautifully. It was sad to read but it’s also so important to hear about these kinds of issues/experiences.

I really don’t get the hype for this book. It was a very quick read and kind of enjoyable but the plot was awful. The last half of the book was too rushed and chaotic to where I was just looking forward to finishing it. Like most people, I had incorrectly guessed Ethan was EJ from the very first tape. We find out that wrong but I wish the book took that direction. I think it would’ve been way more enjoyable if Ethan was EJ and was faking loving Tricia. I hateddd the whole story of Tricia being PH and helping Dr Hale kill EJ. The plot twist was so poorly executed and frankly boring. Ethan being GW’s son and killing her was also too rushed. The whole confession from Tricia where Ethan just blindly accepted it was poorly written as well. I think if this book wasn’t so short and quick to read, I would’ve DNFd it.
Graphic: Mental illness, Murder
Minor: Stalking
