Listening to the audiobook was such an extraordinairy experience! I'm just getting into audiobooks and this exceeded my expectations of what an audiobook can be. The podcast element was amazing and I really enjoyed hearing all the different characters come to life. Although I felt like the ending kinda left the reader hanging... I still think it was very well done.

“Mijn lieve gunsteling” is Marieke Lucas Rijneveld’s second book. Their first, “De avond is ongemak” (The Discomfort of Evening) won the 2020 Booker Prize. They are the first Dutch and youngest winner ever, so that obviously piqued my interest.

I’m normally not the type to read these kinds of books (no doubt filled with metaphors that go straight over my head, which scare me because I have an incessant need to understand everything), but I saw this at my local bookshop (a few weeks ago before lockdown
