Liked this slightly better than the first one. Still not convinced by Tessa Dare’s writing style though 😬 will try more, I’m not giving up on her yet! 😅

This was my first Becky Chambers book and unlike anything I’ve read before. I was a little confused by the world-building at times, but it was a nice story. Don’t really know how to review this 🤷🏻‍♀️

Had a bit of a rough start with this one… I listened to it before bed and fell asleep every time, so I think I’ve listened to the first 10 chapters about 10 times because i forgot what the hell I’d listened to 😂 also the first half was kinda slow. Both made it very difficult to connect to the story and characters. Luckily it did pick up after that and I started to care more about the story. Beware if you wanna listen to this: the narrator has an awful French accent 😬 like, if you can’t do it well just don’t do it 😒

So I put off reading this book for 4(!) years because I’d seen a spoiler somewhere that hinted that a certain someone wasn’t going to make it and I just didn’t want that to be real. Now I have read it and even though I knew it was coming it still hurt SO BAD 😭 I’m still crying. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY

This book made me laugh like a maniac and cry tears of sorrow and joy and gasp in surprise and amazement and feel stress and anxiety and I’m not recovering any time soon. My heart is broken but these characters somehow managed to leave me with so much hope for their futures that it eases the pain a little. The break might never mend properly but that doesn’t mean my heart won’t be able to beat as hard ❤️‍🩹
