Er zitten best wat dingen in dit boek die heftiger zijn dan ik me herinnerde, bijvoorbeeld dat Alexander Rosa een paar keer slaat 🫢 ik vond hem als kind al een verschrikkelijke tiran maar nu dus nog steeds 💀 dat je het moeilijk vind om een baby te hebben én een tienerdochter erbij is geen excuus om haar te slaan 😤

Okay I absolutely adored this. Perfect romcom with just the right amount of emotional trauma 🙈

Now I can finally start the tv adaptation, hopefully it’s any good 🤞🏼

This wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be 😅(after reading Find Her, also by Tessa Bailey, which I hated 😵‍💫). Listening to the Dutch audiobook was definitely an experience though 🫢 I never listen/read romance in Dutch (I prefer to read the original English, but only the Dutch translation was available to me on Storytel). Some of the expressions and phrases used in this book were WILD (especially the spicy scenes) and I had a good laugh about them and figuring out what the original text would’ve said in their place 😂

This had its cute moments but, honestly, was also kind of boring 😬 the romance between the FMC and love interest was pretty underdeveloped, even if the eventual conclusion was cute. I did really enjoy the storyline of the old bookshop owner finding his roots. When adorable old people start crying, that’s when they get me 🥺

Skylar is the WORST character ever btw. Talk about toxic positivity ugh 🙃 I’ll never forgive her for what she said to one of the kids, my jaw literally dropped 😱

The best thing about this book is the cover 🫠 and even that is lame because guess what? There’s no cat anywhere to be found in this story 😂 nor is there murder “at” the bookstore because no one gets killed in the actual store. None of the characters have any personality or depth to them and the writing is SO choppy. The MC makes weird choices for no apparent reason and at times just acts plain stupid. Had someone waved 10 red flags in her face at the same time she still wouldn’t have seen them. And she’s supposed to be a mystery writer? I know whose book I don’t wanna read 🫣
