Ali Hazelwood writes sizzling romantic tension like no other. And she has done it again! I’m not exaggerating when I tell you I absolutely tore through this. Reading 300 pages in one evening is a LOT for me. I wanna rate this 5 stars so bad but with pain in my heart I’m going to deduct half a star. The whole knot-thing situation and accompanying dirty talk... it was just a little too weird for me, sorry 🫣 I’m not a fan of the fated mates trope but decided to keep an open mind going into this book. It’s Ali Hazelwood, an author I have never given less than 5 stars, so I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. I was happily surprised that the mates situation didn’t bother me that much. I say this, but that was until we got to the sexy scenes. Some of the phrases used were too cringy for me. Idk, I might change my mind and give it the full 5 stars eventually.

Leuk kerstboek, maar ben niet helemaal overtuigd door de schrijfstijl. Af en toe werden er ook woorden gebruikt die ik nogal cringe vond, bijvoorbeeld“paps” en “mams” (de hoofdpersoon is in de 30 🙄) en die namen… ik snap dat het een kerstboek is, maar Mirre? Zijn er serieus mensen die zo heten? En bij Sylvester zag ik toch elke keer Sylvester Stallone voor me 😂

Het verhaal had zo z’n sterke en zwakke kanten, maar het verdient een halve ster extra voor de plottwist. Die had ik dus niet zien aankomen 😱

I decided to pick this up because the author is Palestinian, which is why I’m so sad to say that I didn’t really enjoy this 😔 The connection and chemistry between the heroine and MMC felt very lacklustre to me. 

What was really cool is that the FMC is an Arab/American from a merchant family with a keen sense for business. I liked her drive and wanted her ventures to succeed, but apart from that I didn’t really care about the characters 🤷🏻‍♀️ also, the spicy scenes were so awkwardly written 🫣 I listened to the audiobook and the narration didn’t make it any better… Both narrators had such a stilted way of speaking when they got to those scenes, not sexy at all 😂😬

This was just my opinion of this book, I had honestly hoped I would like it more. Lets keep supporting Palestinian authors! 🇵🇸
