Really well researched, and recounted in a very compelling way. It's amazing what these men endured and what others sacrificed to help them survive.

I'd recommend both this and his other book, "Lost in Shangri-la".

A really intricate and well-woven WWI historical fiction novel. I enjoyed how effortlessly the characters intertwined (often those chance meetings and connections seem hokey in a novel, but here they were perfect). Looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy.

A great follow up to "The Midwife of Hope River", told largely from the perspective of Nurse Becky. Though part of me wishes I'd get to hear more from Patience, I enjoyed hearing from Becky with all of her faults and struggles.

Learned a lot about the Lincoln presidency (and the time leading up to it) that I didn't know before. Really interesting to learn about how he made up his cabinet and how parts of the civil war played out away from the battlefront.

I'm a sucker for a good lawyer-mystery novel, especially one that's part of a series. Engaging, interesting, makes me want to keep listening whenever I can do I can find out what happens next. Looking forward to the next novel!
