Charming and cozy, this is a lovely and soothing story that is quintessential grump & sunshine. It leans in a little too hard to the dynamic at different points, but the characters are sweet enough that you want to spend time with them. I wish we spent more time on the farm with the chickens, but Dream Harbor was a nice place to send time. The sequels being set up were obvious throughout, but this is still a place I'd like to spend more time.

I wasn't sure what to think about this book at first. The love story, before it started, seemed so improbable. But there was something so beautiful about the development of this story, and the acknowledgement that grief molds our lives in ways we don't always fully understand. I'll need to continue to sit with this one for a while.

Charming is the first word that comes to mind to describe the world in this book. I want to go get a latte at Wicked Brews and gossip with the pigeons!
Declan and Lou are a great main pair who have to quickly work through complicated issues, but it's the whole pack, as Declan would say, that make this story worth reading. The story of found family will always be my favorite, and the fact that this one has ferrets and a baby phoenix named Dammit is just icing on the cake.

This one seemed to end really abruptly. One minute, the alien is talking about needing to woo his mate, the next they're married and talking about breeding. I feel like I missed a step somewhere.

Basically, if the plane's a-rockin' don't come a-knockin'. The Sentient airline seats being named Cushy, Plush, and Snug? 10/10, no notes. Honestly, this was a fun ride (pun absolutely intended).

I was on board up until the pumpkin-headed demon explained breeding was the only way to stay in the human realm. And I can't believe that's a sentence I just wrote.

It took me awhile to really sink into this story, with stops and starts along the way as i tried to predict what was coming. But once I let the story lead me, I couldn't put it down.
Maya is a flawed and compelling main character, whose decision making is so questionable, but also understandable due to her experience with emotional and psychological manipulation, as well as substance abuse. Frank is exactly the type of antagonist who keeps me up at night: able to inflict pain without ever raising his hand or having anything seem amiss, constantly causing his victim to overrule their own sense of what's right or wrong.

I love the ebb and flow of this story, which is appropriate given the focus on the importance of story beats and earned outcomes. Emma is a flawed but relatable main character, and I found myself wanting her to meet her potential. Regarding Charlie, I'm continually amazed at Katherine Center's ability to have her love interest seem irredeemable, before making it possible for me to fall for them by the end.

This was sensory overload in a way - pumpkins, candy, the associated puns...but if you read a book called Hallowpeen, should you really be surprised?

I really brought this on myself. It's right there in the description - this is a story about a woman and a headless horseman who strike a sexy bargain that lets her keep her own head. It's very smutty, very spicy, darker than anticipated (was not prepared for what can only be described as gun play), but an entertaining little romp. I probably could have done without the HEA and the evil uncles, but at least they got their comeuppance.
