I did not relate to any of the characters but this was still entertaining as a thriller / easy quick read. Was somewhat predictable and had too many characters but I’d recommend to anyone who likes these type of books

Hard to describe and the essays being out of chronological order got confusing at times but otherwise I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. Gorgeous descriptions about humanity and nature.

Finished this in less than a day. Quick read and highly recommend, it was entertaining, an interesting premise, and very well-written. I liked Chloe, didn’t like Francis, and overall I liked the interpersonal dynamics of the characters. About fate, morality, choices we make and the interconnectedness of motivation, curiosity, humanity, tragedy, and the stories we tell about ourselves/past/others.

So so good!! Surreal and reflective. Beauty in suffering, persistence in survival, relationships and the interconnectedness of humanity. I love dystopians like this and love the author’s writing. Cool how there is some mystery in it, symbolism, and varying perspectives & plots at different times chronologically.

Fun to have references to Jane eyre and was entertaining psychological thriller with mysterious characters. It was different than Jane eyre though because it lacked the heartwarming and endearing aspects of Jane eyre — definitely not literary either. Funny to make the connection and is a decent novel in its genre

I wanted to like this book more than I did. I think the writing style having long descriptive paragraphs made it slow at times— I didn’t really feel a sense of “I can’t wait to read what happens next”.
What I did enjoy about that is how it made it easier to experience and feel what the characters were feeling.
There is an aspect of magical realism that I didn’t love but was unique for me to read. The random descriptions of others throughout the world felt out of place and I didn’t vibe with the intent of that.
Overall not very eventful and though there were a few quotes that felt
I would be curious to read a different book by this author to help discern my opinion on the writing.

I’m still thinking deeply about this one, especially the ending.
Fucked-up dystopian novel that imagines the extreme end of an authoritarian institution shaming women. Was haunting, painful to read at times, but gripping and I enjoyed it.

This was fine, nothing special but I don’t regret reading it. Quirky and slow build up that was sometimes frustrating. I didn’t love any of the characters. Enjoyed the ending , though it felt kind of random and flighty.

This started good but got better and better with a few great twists towards the end (and all wholesome even though it is a dark book). There was a lot of anticipation and suspense throughout the book. Times when I was heartbroken and “wanted to look away” or stop listening, since I read this on audiobook.
I liked Griz and the dogs, I liked how things tied together and how there was some breaking of the fourth wall / commentary
The book is emotional and dark yet also hopeful and a refute of nihilistic views towards the end of the world.
Would oddly compare it a bit to Fredrick Backman books even though this has more danger & death. Both write about humanity, morality, purpose & meaning, love/family/relationships, bonds with animals, ethics, religion, imagination/stories.
