If you are looking for a good read with tons of representations from various cliques and genre's then this is a book for you.
This lyrical coming-of-age novel for fans of Darius the Great Is Not Okay and On the Come Up, set in southern California in 1996, follows a teen who wants to honor her deceased friend’s legacy by entering a rap contest.
The character arc of Rana has to be one of the most wholesome, conflicted and overall endearing ones I read so far on a YA category. The author drafted an FMC full of promise. I actually saw my teenage years flashback as I read through this book

This series is seriously giving me book hangover! Lio is one sweet thing. To be loved that much, ugh!
Blood Gift, the seventh book in this enchanting series, continues to captivate readers with its mesmerizing blend of magic, romance, and perilous adventure.
The story revolves around Cassia, a young woman grappling with her dual legacies - an ancient dormant magic waiting to be unleashed and the bloodright to become an immortal Hesperine, much like her beloved Lio. As they navigate the treacherous path towards her mastering of the dormant magic, the narrative beautifully unfolds into a tale of self-discovery, sacrifice, and undying devotion.
The chemistry between Cassia and Lio is palpable, and the author skillfully builds their relationship through the challenges they face together. Lio's unwavering commitment to protecting Cassia is both swoon-worthy and commendable, adding depth to their love story.
@velarothauthor expertly weaves intricate world-building and vivid descriptions, transporting readers to a magical realm filled with wonder and danger. The lush prose and well-developed characters immerse readers into a captivating reading experience that leaves a lasting impression.

It's an interesting read. Learned about few magical creatures and the tension of how the FMC wins the competition is just right. Lot of predictable twists results however, the MCs are loveable in some way so was able to tolerate the cringy stuff.
Love Boris the Badger, sassy familiar

Survival games, political machinations with a splash of romance. All recipe for an awesome reading time. And While "Immortal Longings" showcases Gong's skill in world-building and descriptive writing, the weaknesses in the plot and romantic elements prevent it from reaching its full potential. Fans of creative historical adaptations may still find enjoyment in the unique setting, but those seeking a compelling narrative might be left wanting.
Conceptually, body switching abilities on a squid game-like setting is already a recipe for success however the central plot lacks the depth and complexity needed to sustain interest, often feeling predictable and overly reliant on the source material.
Additionally, the incorporation of a romantic plotline feels forced and awkwardly executed, detracting from the overall flow of the story. The chemistry between characters doesn't resonate authentically, and it struggles to evoke genuine emotional investment from the reader.

Holy Moly. I have several things for this book:
• World building: one of the biggest for fantasy readers to love a fantasy book is ow an author simulates an engaging world that is so awesome that the reader can truly immerse themselves with. This book did just that. Sure, some of the subliminal details seems familiar but overall the author created an intricate world full of surprises
• Pacing: I am fine with either reasonable slow burn plot lines or fast paced ones. It is rare to have something in between that just works but somehow this book did just that
