It’s a novella, I get it. After all the “controversy” surrounding the novel, Pucking Around, I was interested. But I am not a sports romance person, let alone hockey. And I can’t tell you the last time I read a spicy 🌶️ read.
A+ for the spice. 🥵
But the characters felt disjointed from themselves. Like it wasn’t the same characters when they were getting it on compared to what they were like when they weren’t.
I don’t think I’ll be reading Pucking Around now though.

I fucking knew it!
Anyway, the only reason I didn’t give this a five star is because of the subject matter. I can imagine this story could be very triggering. And as a parent, a mother, it will destroy you. This is not a book for everyone.

The only thing keeping it from a full five star is that i felt like the ending was rushed. And I felt like the main character, Anna cared way too much about everyone else in her life getting a happily ever after.

Just not feeling it. I can assume they get back together in the end. For awhile I was interested in why they broke up in the first place but I started to not care. 🤷🏾♀️
Just couldn’t get into it. Had no real desire to continue picking it up.

If you’re 40ish, you’ll enjoy this one. So many 90s references, but it’s not over the top and annoying. I really have nothing negative to say, I really enjoyed this book can’t wait to continue with the series.

This book is great if you want to run a marathon. I have an interest in becoming a runner but not necessarily running a marathon, especially not any time soon.

Can’t go wrong with Samantha Irby. Not my favorite book of hers; I’d definitely start with one of her first books to get a sense of who she is and how funny she is. I definitely had to skip whole sections because even though I’ve read every book she’s written… some things just didn’t hit.
