I don't read enough poetry, and this book reminded me of that. It kind of smacked me upside the head to remind me, actually. I enjoyed the dual interpretation, the connectivity that allows for individuality, the freedom of range in creative expression here. For those of us who write, who revise and revise and revise and revise and revise and are never happy, this book is reminder of the roots of creative expression. We do this because we have a voice and others want to hear it. This is easy to forget, and though I'm probably reading way too into the premise behind it, I also just really loved the work.

This lovely hardcover collection by Mathieu Cailler creates for its reader a rich landscape that flies in the face of any limited, romanticized views of certain lifestyles and hones in instead on the complexities and nuances of its characters' lives. Cailler's tales are about ordinary people who live, love, and strive. Well-penned and well-delivered.

I was lucky enough to be an early reader of this book. While I don't ordinarily read Westerns, this book brought a traditional hero into a modern setting and surprised me at every turn. The writing is tender, smart, and easy to read. Highly recommended!

Poppy's collection of poetry explores the mystery and beauty of nature alongside the human potential that lives somewhere beyond our imposed boundaries. These are poems to savor. Truly.
