i don’t even care Nora gets another 5 stars for how much I cried

I need book three I need Jeremy out of that fucking house I need the Trojans to win I need Laila to be happy in their new home I need jerejean to kiss and I need Cat and Jean to take Laila and Jeremy on a motorcycle ride I need a chapter that’s fifty pages of Laila and Jeremy hugging and being best friends I need Cody to get with Pat and Ananya and I want more of all the side Trojans.

And fuck I want a book about the foxes during this timeline 😭

Book pitch: villainous, undead pirate-queen Kraken was only after your friends because she wanted to see if your friend could help out her mentally ill rampaging Dragon girlfriend. Incredible things happening in this book; this is what the new decade of high fantasy books should strive to have. This book is also host to world’s most uncomfortable and dangerous group therapy!

*spoilers ahead
As for things I didn’t like as much, the plot didn’t seem as well crafted in this as it was in previous installments in the series & rather similarly to the previous two books I just wish there had been more time for Janel/Teraeth and Janel/Kihrin & all of them as a trio to develop. In book one Teraeth and Kihrin literally spend like half a decade together as friends so I feel like we really got that slow burn and development so now in comparison everything’s moved soo fast. As much as I want some horny scenes in my high fantasy I feel like there’s a time and a place y’all and while entertaining I feel like everyone should’ve been more concerned with dying than with being horny lmao. Also. I put this book down for two months bc I was so pissed about Janel being pregnant lol. I get that they have all of their previous lifetimes in their heads and I guess they’re embracing that a bit, but to ME they’re Kihrin/Janel/Teraeth who are barely into their twenties and barely into their relationship so the baby thing kinda pissed me off. Hoping I will like the conclusion more because so far no book in the series has topped the first one for me…
Bonus points however for the gays really winning in this book!! Shout out to Kalindra/Jarith and Kihrin’s parents for being the token straights tho.

Cool concepts, just a little too fast paced/short. Might feel different on a reread. Not my favorite art style but the colors were gorgeous.

Fascinating to read this again as an adult; the depiction of grooming and abuse/manipulation like definitely sort of went over my head a bit when I was younger and reading it now it was so glaringly obvious + he used so many textbook phrases and exhibited such clear abuser behavior. Extra interesting how it was melded with the magic of the world and the “people-speaking” ability. A creative way to talk about how some people really do have a way of words & the ability to charm and sway people—and also how situational dependency can affect this—and how that power can be used for good or bad.

However, minus points for Enna doing war crimes lmao. Also Isi is like a baby why is she married and having a baby.

DID NOT FINISH: 46%

just couldn’t do it it was too bad I’m afraid

would've loved if this could've been a slowburn bc i feel like that would've been perfect for this relationship, but since this is not that type of series it was fun enough
