eh could be I’m just not feeling it rn, but I’m trying to be better about just putting down a book I’m not into at the start rather than push through the whole thing. Just felt like I could predict the whole story and the characters’ personalities from page one and I want something more engaging than that at this moment

fast-paced and can’t go into a super in depth level since it’s a shorter gn, but I really enjoyed!

“Somewhere recently humanity seems to have crossed an invisible line, and on this side naked power combined with the will to profit threaten to overwhelm the collective interests of our species.”

very interesting essay on narrative written pre-Oct 2023 & very challenging afterword written in 2024

I’m glad she threw that loser Shiraha to the CURB

this is like if you did the worst imaginable thing [to a person] and then they baby trapped you [with an entire city] and then you fell in love [after several hundred years] 🩵

Thoughts to come; rating may change

I know this book/series is angsty or whatever but honestly this book also made me laugh out loud on several occasions I was having a good time lmao.

I’m rating this a little above of what I’d say my personal reading experience was (the beginning was a bit slow for me) but I was really impressed with the way this novel brought in mythology, folklore and folktales, retellings, etc. such a fascinating story that’s interested in how we tell and have told stories over time. I definitely need some more time to think over this one. I could so see this being used in a class lol.
