Like many, I am a lover of Pride and Prejudice. It's a favorite classic of mine and I love when new authors bring it into their stories. Jessica Grey takes a unique spin on the idea of falling into a book when her character, Kelsey, does just that - quite literally. Kelsey falls asleep one day while reading and ends up right in the middle of her favorite story - but not as her favorite character. Meanwhile, back in the real world, she has managed to make a fool of herself several times in front of the hot bartender, Mark.
As Kelsey flips back and forth between the world of Pride and Prejudice and her real life, there's times she thinks her little trips are much better - if only she could manage to jump into Elizabeth Bennet, then things might just be perfect. When the unthinkable happens and she finds herself unable to get back to her real life, she has to use all her literary brain power to figure out what she needs to do to get back to herself.
Full of fantastic Austen references, and a very subtle look at being true to who you really are inside, this book was a winner on just about every level. I think anyone who loves a good classic will love this glimpse into the life of an Elizabeth Bennet fan.

When a business man who is proud of his Scrooge like reputation is asked to fill in as Santa at a local children's hospice, he meets a very sexy head elf helper. When a blizzard strands them in her house she gets to show him what the holiday can really mean. A bit of a traditional storyline with a very cute twist, this was a great way to start getting in the holiday season and in the mood for Christmas. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/2013/11/review-tis-season-to-kiss-santa-by-kate.html#sthash.oLIOh0if.dpuf
On the surface Ross and Kelsey are all wrong for each other. Ross wants a stable, reliable, and safe woman. Kelsey is far from that. She hikes deadly mountians and risks her life, no challenge is too big for her. So why can't they seem to keep away from each other when Kelsey takes a temporary position as the nanny for his three kids (I loved all three of them by the end). As they grow closer and closer they both realize that neither one of them really knows what they want out of life. But Kelsey is about to leave to attempt the most dangerous summit in the world, and they are running out of time to figure it out. This was a fantastic book, with just the tiniest hint of danger on the horizon. Kelsey was so very relatable - while appearing perfect at first, I grew to love each and every one of her flaws as they showed up. One of my favorite romance novellas of the year. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/2013/11/review-falling-for-mr-wrong-by-inara.html#sthash.jlfBFfu7.dpuf
Rocky Coast Romance is a clean romance. There is no sex, but there is a lot of story and there is plenty of romance. Bree comes to Holiday Harbor as her last chance. Her last chance at her journalism career after thoroughly blowing it on a previous assignment. Her last chance at independence, and her last chance at love (even if she doesn't realize it at first). Writing a bit of a fluff piece about the small ocean side fishing community to help boost tourism, she discovers that there is more to the story of the struggling town that she thought at first.
At the center of it all is the Mayor, Cooper Landry. Cooper is hoping Bree's article will boost tourism for the small community so they don't decline any more than they already have. There is a big time land developer waiting in the wings for the town to flounder so he can come in and buy it up for cheap. Cooper has been hurt in the past by women, so he is determined not to let Bree effect him, but he finds that more difficult that he thought it would be.
Cooper and Bree bond over the small town's history and culture and she falls in love with the small town before she knows it, but it takes a bit longer for them both to realize just how perfect they are for each other. With a little bit of conflict thrown in to keep things really interesting, this was a great romance story.

Entangled has been doing well this season with their Christmas novellas. Tis the Season to Get Lucky puts Kate, a PR manager snowed into a department store with Ryder, the son of store's owner. I wish I had a chance like this - it would be so much fun raiding the different deparments for "survival supplies". Ryder jumps at the opportunity to get closer (and fulfil his dream of raiding the store as well) to the uptight Kate, and Kate decides to let her guard down and enjoy herself for just one night. Of course things get interesting and just maybe this could be more than just one night. But they have a few issues to get over before that could ever be a possibility. Two people from two different worlds may just have what it takes to make the most of the situation. Both characters had some really amazing moments and had such great personalities I fell in love them right away and was cheering for them to get together the whole way through. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/2013/11/review-tis-season-to-get-lucky-by-heidi.html#sthash.O4dhO5su.dpuf
I fell in love with Memory's Wake at about the third page. Selina Fenech drops you right into the middle of all the action right from the start and it was brilliant. The perfect way to make you relate 100% to what Memory was experiencing - from the pain and confusion, to the relief at finding someone willing to help.
While the story is primarily about Memory and her search for answers about her past - her memories are all missing, anything that happened before the book starts is all a mystery to her. Along the way she is caught up in a much larger storyline for the world of Avall. I loved the illustrations scattered throughout the pages. There were enough to keep me wondering when I'd see the next, but not so many that it becomes a picture book. They were beautifully done and perfectly placed to enhance the story instead of destracting from it.
Memory's group of friends are more than any of them think they are, and they will find they all have a very important role to play, with Memory finding her's the most important of all. Difficult to put down with vivid details and characters. It is a great book for fantasy lovers - young or old.

As a bit time lover of old school fantasy stories, I always love when I see dragons and magic brought into more contemporary story lines. Mina Khan does the wonderfully with her dragon-shifter, Lynn Alexander. She's not some little petite dragon - she's the real deal and could probably eat you whole if she got angry enough. After experience a series of somewhat prophetic dreams she flies off to check on her friend Jen and finds her house about to go up in flames. When she senses the presence of a powerful male dragon in the area she wonders if he might be the cause of the blaze, which is just one in a string of what looks like arson.
I loved Lynn. She was just the right mixture of tough and timid, confidant and unsure, all at the same time. Just when she thinks she has everything finally figured out, a series of events changes everything putting her friends, both new and old, in great danger. She will need to learn to trust and balance the dragon in her in order to save everyone.
Through all this mystery and detective work, she meets a few eligible bachelors - all of which could be the bad guy. When her heart settles on the one that looks the most guilty, she resolves herself to finding proof and living with her broken heart. I think the only small part I didn't like about this was at times her best friend, Jen, got a little on my nerves. This is a great story for lovers of crime drama, romance, or fantasy.

Neighbors was a great story about two people that really needed each other. Rena has lost herself in running her own business and Riker has just returned from the war with a severe injury that is healing. His wounds aren't all physical and it takes a lot to bring the two of the together. L.S. Murphy manages to pack quite a bit in the little novella, but I had a bit of a hard time relating to the characters. I did enjoy the storyline and there were a couple scenes that really packed an emotional punch, it was fantastic. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/2013/11/review-neighbors-by-ls-murphy.html#sthash.K5CahKgA.dpuf
I absolutely loved On His List. It was an amazing feel good romance with characters that jumped right off the pages. Remy was just sassy and mouthy enough to make her believable, and Owen's little "quirk" with lists was just adorable. I loved how they interacted, and their conversations are some I will go back to over and over. When they first meet it seems like a disaster, but soon it's clear that they are perfect for each other - each with their own crazy ways that seem like complete opposites at first. This is a must read for anyone who loves a good quick romance. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/2013/11/review-on-his-list-by-wendy-sparrow.html#sthash.ajXPHooA.dpuf
Kit and Ivy are half-sisters that have bonded over the years as if they were full sisters. Neither is close to their father, in fact, Kit has never even met him. The trigger in this story is when Kit decides she wants to finally meet him. When she announces her plans to Ivy, Ivy is shocked and wants no part of it. Neither does Kit's mother. It's not just because they don't like the father, Roger, it's for a much bigger reason. I think the only person in the entire story not hiding some really really big secret is Kit herself.
As Kit begins her search the secrets start coming out, and they set off a chain of events that begins to drive some people far apart, and bring others closer together. The characters in the story were quite real and they were all very far from perfect. I think this is what really makes this book click and why I enjoyed it. Their are a true family. At times they love each other and can't get enough of each other, and other times they can't stand to look at each other. It's what real life is.
The part that threw me was the ending. I felt like it was quite abrupt and that some of the storyline was left hanging. I wanted to know what happened next, but there wasn't anything else left to read in the book. Another ten pages or so would have been perfect.
