Memory's Wake by Selina Fenech
5.0

I fell in love with Memory's Wake at about the third page. Selina Fenech drops you right into the middle of all the action right from the start and it was brilliant. The perfect way to make you relate 100% to what Memory was experiencing - from the pain and confusion, to the relief at finding someone willing to help.

While the story is primarily about Memory and her search for answers about her past - her memories are all missing, anything that happened before the book starts is all a mystery to her. Along the way she is caught up in a much larger storyline for the world of Avall. I loved the illustrations scattered throughout the pages. There were enough to keep me wondering when I'd see the next, but not so many that it becomes a picture book. They were beautifully done and perfectly placed to enhance the story instead of destracting from it.

Memory's group of friends are more than any of them think they are, and they will find they all have a very important role to play, with Memory finding her's the most important of all. Difficult to put down with vivid details and characters. It is a great book for fantasy lovers - young or old.
