Definitely, Maybe in Love takes a lot of influence from one of my all time favorite classics, Pride and Prejudice. I can see and feel it on every page. But it's not just a re-telling, it's a re-imagination of all the wonderful themes and characters. Spring is headstrong and opinionated and is so proud of everything she stands for. She is convinces that Henry Knightly is a rich pampered man that just doesn't get what is really going on. So of course they have to fall in love with each other.

Their unusual relationship is very touching, and often humorous. Ophelia London even managed to pull in several of the side story lines and find ways to use them to make her story even better - and give the reader a greater insight into both Spring and Henry. There were a couple times where the story seemed to drag on a little bit, but overall the pace of the book was nice and relaxing - just a little excitement sprinkled here and there to make your heart start to race.

I think that anyone who is a fan of Pride and Prejudice will fall in love with this book. I may even have to go visit my old copy of Pride and Prejudice again to reminisce over all the good memories.

Arabella Pierce has had some bad luck with men in the past - both personally and professionally - and she's very hesitant to trush skeptic Lucas. Lucas is determined to follow the famous ghost hunting team and prove to his readers if they are the real thing or just more fakes trying to make a quick buck. He doesn't expect to fall head over heels for the lead investigator, Arrabella. The story isn't just about Lucas and Arabella though. It's also about a pair of ghosts that have been searching for a way back to each other for decades. One of them isn't always so nice in the search and Arabella's team needs to find a way to deal with her or help her move on. Ghosts of Kingston Cottage was the perfect read to kick off the week of Halloween. Equal parts ghost story and romance, it had a bit of an eerie feel to it without losing the feeling of romance that ran throughout the entire story. With happily ever afters all over the place, it was just about perfect. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/2013/10/review-ghosts-of-kingston-cottage-by.html#sthash.9qzPJ14A.dpuf

Seducing the Enemy put a nice twist on the classic tale of two rivals falling in love without realizing who the other is. Only in this case they aren't business rivals, but almost a family feud. A member of Harrison's family, the Damons, was responsible for a horrible accident that left Marietta paralyzed for many years and took the life of her sister. When they meet unexpectedly and unknowingly in a night club there are instant sparks.

When Harrison realizes who Marietta is, he makes some horrible accusations and I really wanted to slap the crap out of him for it. But as we find out more about his history, his overreaction is a little more understandable, but I still had a hard time forgiving him. Marietta doesn't seem to have the same problem, she wants to set things right and move on with her life.

In the process of moving on, she is invited to stay with the Damon family for a week and this is when things start really rolling forward, but the road is quite bumpy. There is more Damon family baggage than we first suspect and it's all about to come out of the closet. With odds and impressions stacked against them, Marietta and Harrison will have a lot to fight through if they want a happily ever after.

Darkness Watching has a very interesting take on demons and sorcerers. Ash begins to see strange black voids with glowing violet eyes that seem to be watching her. At first she thinks she's losing her mind, but as she begins to notice other changes she begins to wonder if she's just seeing something others can't.

When she arrives at the seculded university in Blackstone she finds answers to many of her questions, but those answers only lead to a million more questions. Ash is a great character. I loved her little freak outs as new things happened and her strenght of mind to accept the answers once she realized they were true. She meets quite a few interesting fellow students while at Blackstone and when a group that has similar abilities takes her under their wing the story really starts to move.

There a few characters I really disliked, even though I think I was supposed to enjoy them. Some of the girls from Ash's flat were a little on the annoying side and didn't really behave like I would imagine university students to behave. With a little bit of a romantic situation thrown in that seemed to take away from the story at first, but in the end was very important.

The ending was very surprising. Several of Ash's questions are finally answered and she feels a little safer, but her answers are almost more frightening than the questions were to start with. Although listed as the first in a series, there was enough resoultion at the end to satisfy me with a conclusion. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/2013/10/book-tour-review-and-giveaway-darkness.html#sthash.D5Kb6B7v.dpuf

Abigail has had a pretty crappy life - so one day she decides to end it all, but fate has a different outcome for her. Transported to V'Salicus Academy to become a Cleanser. This transformation does more than give her a second chance at life, it gives her a chance to heal her past hurts and live a life she loves with people she cares about. Basil is the opposite of Abigail, some bad luck leaves him in a deal with the devil and he becomes a Harvester of souls for hell. When he meets Abigail, neither expecting who the other really is, they have an instant connection.

This story is about redemption and moving forward despite the odds stacked against you. Abigail and Basil are both wonderful individuals and their personalities and goodness shine through on every page. The world Angela Brown has developed for them is spectacular. I loved how she described the inbetween world of Withers - it was very creepy.

Ghosts of the Falls was one of the most unique story lines I've read for a paranormal romance. When Jade shows up to exorcise a very powerful ghost, she doesn't realize the pull he will have on her heart. She's drawn to him from the get go, before she even realizes who - or what - he really is. Dutch has been "living" for too long. He is ready to move on and he hopes that Jade will be able to help him do it, but instead she gives him something he wants to stick around for. With Dutch's very soul on the line, he and Jade will need to find a way to stop the exorcism from destroying him forever. The ending was so different and unexpected, and it fit the story perfectly. This was a fantastic story that I won't soon forget. I hope that maybe someday Sarah Gilman will decide to find endings that are just as happy for the rest of Jade's family as well. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/2013/11/review-ghosts-of-falls-by-sarah-gilman.html#sthash.SgoetqjZ.dpuf

*This can be read as a standalone* Unfortunately,Vampire Games fell a little short for me. I had a difficult time relating to the characters. Beatrice Davis can see past emotional and visual imprints on objects, which is a very powerful gift. At the beginning of the story she was full of spunk and attitude and I loved it. But somewhere along the line her attitude changed and I just didn't like her as much - she dwelt far too much on her past relationships to the point it seemed to be a little whiny at times. Claude, her romantic interest, was just a little too stagnant. I would have liked to see him as a more dynamic character. The story of Bea and Claude involves rogue vampires as well as a crime that has haunted Bea's dreams for years. The detective part of the story was very good. Even though we are pretty sure who the bad guy in early on, we don't know the why or the how until the very end. The clues were dropped nicely and the characters didn't have a lot of sudden inspirations for no reason that solved everything. If you are looking for more of a detective story and aren't worried as much about the character development, you will enjoy this one a lot, it just ended up being not quite up my alley. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/2013/11/review-vampire-games-by-tiffany-allee.html#sthash.nTpbBsE2.dpuf

Reckless got off to a bit of a rough start for me. I really hated Milly. She was just not a very good person. There was a time I almost put the book down, but then something about her caught my attention. It wasn't that she was just a bad person - she was damaged and lashing out in some pretty terribly ways, but it wasn't really her. Although I probably could have down without her relationship with the French guy, he was disgusting.

Once we get past that first part though we get to see who the real Milly is. The real Milly slowly comes out of her bomb shelter when she goes to visit her Aunt in the country. She begins to heal until she runs into a boy from her past. This is where the real meat of the story begins. I wish it had started sooner because I really enjoyed the last half far more than the first. Secrets begin to come out, old woulds are opened, and new wounds are healed. It was a fantastic story about the power of life and forgiving.

One of my favorite Young Adult genres is a good science fiction dystopian. So when I come across a romance that mixes that up in the storyline I get really excited. Less Than Perfect takes a different approach to the aliens than I had seen in the past so it was a very exciting read in that respect. The story was fast paced and seemed to pack a whole lot into a novella. The action very rarely stopped, but it didn't feel like it was overly rushed.

The character of Mikayla was amazing. She had a box of end of the world books she tried to take with her everywhere, which sounds like something I would try to do at the end of the world. Reg was a bit of a mystery throughout the whole story. Even at the end I didn't really have a feel for who he was, and I really wanted to know him better. The way they learned about each other and fell in love was sweet, but Mikayla seemed far more open than he did - partly because it was told from her perspective.

I haven't found many dytopian style books that are primarily a romance, and this one did a great job combining the two elements without losing either one along the way.

Ancient Rome is one of my favorite time periods to read about. The culture was rich and the people seemed to have such interesting lives. Eva Gordon captured this perfectly in Lycan Gladiator, but added her own little werewolf twist. Her werewolf society pulled in a lot of the traditional lore, but she gave them a fantastic twist. Lycans were mated to wolf maidens, humans that were born with a special mark, and once in a very great while a special wolf maiden was born with the power to heal. Cassia is one of the very special women and her protector is determined that she will be safe and find her true mate.

But Rome is dangerous already, when you throw in an evil werewolf overlord type of character. A wolf that isn't afraid to just take whatever he wants, Cassia's situation becomes much more difficult. When she realizes her true mate is actually his slave - forced to fight as a gladiator things get super interesting.

This book balanced the history and paranormal aspects beautifully, tying in real events to make the story more believable. With characters that came to life and stayed with you long after the final page. I hope Eva continues the series because I know it will be a hit.
