Glad I gave into all the hype I was hearing on TikTok. I haven’t read a Hades and Persephone retelling before but this was fun and definitely spicy. It was super easy to get caught up in the book and just fly through it.

I couldn’t put this book down. The plus size rep in this book was in some ways a balm and in other ways unnerving seeing personal experiences as part of a fictional story. But I think what I loved about this romance the most was that both parties had insecurities to work through, and both had to put in work to understand the other. I wasn’t just cheering for the lead girl because she was fat but I was cheering for both of them because they were so lovely and I wanted both of their happiness.

Also this is my second time reading a book that centers around fandom culture online and in person and it’s THE BEST. They’re so fun and I really can’t wait to read Dade’s next book.

This is a really short book but it also really drags. Depressing on many levels. I have more thoughts but mostly the whole time reading this it just felt BLEGH.

I’m rating this higher than I thought I would. Maybe because I don’t really care about skateboarding it was difficult for this book in the pocket change collective to hold my interest. But it give great insight into misogyny in sports, and the roles women are expected to play. I love that the author Leo Baker found a way to stay true to themselves even if it took time to get there, and one quote in particular really hit home for me. Reading it was when I decided to add a star to my rating. ‘It’s a long process to remove the parts of ourselves we create to survive.’

This was okay. It helped refresh my memory since it’s been a while since I picked up this series, but a lot of it kind of dragged. Especially the glossary and some of the family profiles.

I read this in a day, mostly because I had time and it was fun. Both of the main characters were lovable, and I loved pretty much any time family members were involved. Quan is the realest and I would die for him. My heart may be dedicated to secondary characters, most notably the lovable best friend.

It’s offensive how much I adore Alex. After how much fun I had with Spoiler Alert, I fully intended to sit down and just read this book until I was done. I didn’t expect my library to have it for me so close to pub day since the wait for the ebook was several months but the physical copy seemed to have a much smaller wait, which means I’m way more tired than I expected at work on a Thursday. But it was so worth it.

The only devastating thing is that I now have to wait until fall of next year for the next book from the author?!? How am I going to do that?!!!

I was complaining the week before that I couldn’t find interior design books that were inspiring and then I came across this and it was just what I was looking for. I had borrowed it from the library but am considering buying a copy for myself!

LMAO. I saw tiktoks referring to this book or it mentioned in the comments. So when I signed up for a Kindle Unlimited trial and saw it was included I thought, oh yea! I want to be in on the joke too!

Plot twist: I am the joke. I can't believe I read this book. It's exactly what booktok painted it as but it's so cheesy and cringe. It's also way longer than it needs to be. Easily could have cut out 20 of the 70 chapters. I don't know why I didn't just DNF the book but I have a hard time not finishing things so here we are.

Anyone else who finds themselves here because of booktok, maybe pick this up if you're in the mood to read a bad book, the way I sometimes want to watch a bad movie. But also be prepared for it to be longer than that feeling could possibly last.

I'm not sure how I missed adding this to Goodreads, but I didn't see it on my Goodreads Challenge. This is the final installment to the Unadjusteds trilogy, and while it's not my favorite in the series, you can still get caught up in the mystery and building tension.
