You know the more Valiant titles I read the less I understand the love this company gets. Don't get me wrong, they're not horrible, but they sure do release a lot of just okay stuff.

Anyway, another Harbinger title. This one actually being the highest rated. That made me excited. The DEATH of a Renegade. Sounds badass right? Got the big showdown, Peter and his gang going for the final take down, all the stakes in, the big fight is about to begin! And...

Good: I did enjoy Kris and Peter's interaction in here. I also thought there were some amazing fight moments, especially between Peter.

Bad: The dialog is atrocious when it comes to Faith and Torque. I mean some of the worst I've read. Also REALLLLLLLY forced sex scene. The "death" was unsurprising and also really poorly done. The ending falls flat and just kind of go with the flow of the story to introduce one more volume and then a spin off.

Overall Harbinger builds up it's whole "war" to make it end on kind of a dud. I know there's one more volume but unless it's a huge turn around I feel Joshua misses the mark big time on this big overstuffed volume. A 2 out of 5.

While not as strong as the first volume it remains highly engaging and well done. So let's get to it!

Mr. Tryp is a cocksucker. Remember him from volume 1? Well now we get the origin of his story and goddamn...we talking dark shit that relates very close to Jamie. All well done. We also have a Civil War tie in. While these stories and plot are starting to connect we get some future crazyness coming into modern time, big fights, and a few twist I didn't see coming.

Good: Jamie having multiple dupes sleeping with different girls in one house is both hilarious and scary. I also thought the twist with one of the members and their action was shocking and as always with this series thought provoking. I thought the ending really wrapped up nice and leads us to the next arc really well.

Bad: I didn't love the civil war tie in. In fact I felt pretty let down by it. This could have hit well but the two issues between the rest kind of feel...boring. They just feel like added in because...well events. Hits the flow pretty bad for a few issues.

Overall it was super fun and enjoyable just not AS strong as volume 1. Mostly due to the tie in. Either way still a high 3.5 and still in love with this series.

I wonder if I should go back and read other Batman Beyond comics. The only one I read before this was Rebirth and enjoyed that but I feel like sometimes the things they talk about in here I need to know more.

Anyway, this volume is pretty cool. Terry is trying to balance his normal life with being Batman. He loves Bruce but he doesn't want to be LIKE him. He just wants to be a hero with a decent love life/normal life on the side. Something Bruce never had. However, when Barbara gets attacked by the league of Assassins Terry decides to done the suit once more. This time though he puts on a suit that gives him quicker reflexes, more strength, BUT also a A.I. that will do anything to win. So when Terry meets the new head of the League things start to spiral out of control.

Good: The introduction to a certain little badass who's now a full grown man is pretty awesome. The interaction with him and Terry and him and Bruce is great. I also liked the idea of Terry trying to be DIFFERENT than Bruce. He's like a mix of Bruce, Dick, and Tim all in one. Yet he's still unique enough to make his own. Oh and Batwoman Beyond is hot.

Bad: The one shot Batwoman Beyond origin story is just okay. Also some of these fight scenes are poorly drawn. Characters feel too stiff and the action doesn't flow like we'd want. There's also a bit more cheese than I expected from Bruce.

Overall it's a fun title. I think Batman Beyond keeps strong, if not stronger, than the last volume. While not mindblowing I think it's a nice "different" rebirth title and worth checking out for fans of the show/Batman character. 3 out of 5.

I really couldn't even finish this...I just don't know how you can make a super badass concept so fucking boring. Oh yeah, give us realllllly bad characters with awful dialog. Blah.

You gotta love when you go into a series with NO expectation and come out so happy that you want more to only learn there IS NO MORE!!! UGHHHH! Anyway.

What's Foolkiller about James? Well let me tell you. Greg is just a dude with a dark past trying to do good. He decides to become a psychiatrist and "help" people. Sounds wonderful huh? I think so! However, when he begins to meet some crazy people including a man who's origin is tooooo funny for words he realizes something. He needs to kill these criminals before they do something even worse! So it's basically Dexter but a little more insane.

The story spans 5 issues which feels like a complete first arc. You get to see Greg's life, his internal struggles, and some great guest cameos. After first two issues I went back and read a little information about the previous runs of this character and it helped give issue 3-5 a bit more of a push into understanding all the craziness.

Good: This series is fucking hysterical. There, I said it. This might be my favorite comedy comic since The Fix. The humor is perfect, with a lot of small jokes, and when the big ones come out, they make you laugh. On top of that I LOVE Greg. He is just Meta enough, not Deadpool Meta, and gives a great look into the reader's views on famous "insane" characters. The origin of "shit man" is probably the funnist thing I've ever read in a Marvel comic. Like hands down, it got me laughing out loud. I also loved the last issue and it's "I don't give a fuck what you think comics are suppose to be like" feel. Just great.

Bad: It ended.

I really really loved this. Max def made me fall in love with a character I've NEVER read about before. I'm really eager to see what he does for his next Moon Knight series. This is one of my favorite comics I read this year. A 5/5.

Is it strange that I found this too safe for a Millar book? Like I expected a lot more twist and turns but this was just a gigantic safe fairy tale with some bloody moments.

So what happens when you die? Depending on if you're religious you might think you're going to heaven, or hell, or some crazy fairy tale place with demons and dragons. The later sounds pretty cool huh? Well that's what happens with the main character of this series. The first issue starts with her dying in her old age and by the time it ends she is transported to a new magical world with a mission! Find her husband in this afterlife universe after he was killed by a sniper.

Good: The art is really solid. There's some awesome moments especially with the fight scenes. I also thought the father/daughter moments were sometimes good and I liked all the real world stuff a lot actually.

Bad: The fairy tale stuff was so cliche I had to triple check this was written by Mark Millar. No stakes, no losses, no big surprises. It played out like a disney movie. Like a very bloody but safe disney movie. Which could be fine but the characters were all pretty forgettable. I'd say you won't remember anyone's name in this book in about a month or two. Also some cringe worthy moments such as the daughter (main character who I forgot the name her) telling her dad she's happy she got her period. LIke...I got the moment but just came off weird.

Overall it was just really meh. I was never excited reading it. I was expecting some big twist or turn half way through and when nothing came I questioned what the point of this story was. I wanted more and what I got was just okay. A 2/5.

Holy fuck what in the world was happening in here?

That was my mindset the entire time reading this. However, I really had a good time.

Also might not be the best idea to read New Avengers/Avengers a year and a half ago and then read this...might confuse you...just a bit.

So this story is really like a two parter. There's these aliens, new gods, whatever want to call them who are ready to fuck up the world. Coming after earth. Taking it for themselves but not without destroying all the other planets in it's way. The other part is Thanos coming to earth and we learn he's not here to take it over. He's here to murder his son. What a asshole huh?

Good: The art is fucking STUNNING. This might be some of my favorite ever. Like wow. Also the fights were intense. Thanos vs Black Bolt? OMG. Also Thor's moments in this were amazing. Caps speeches were ballin. The Avengers all coming together at the end? Badass. Secret avengers working together? Boss.

Bad: A lot of shit is happening. This story really is only partly Thanos. Alot of it has to do with the other species of Aliens coming to earth to destroy it. So little misleading. I also didn't care much for the Black Panther/Namor stuff.

Overall this was badass if not a bit uneven. Hard to keep up but fully entertaining. I have a feeling we going to get some moments from this in the movie. A 3.5 out of 5.

John John John...we've come to the end....again!

So John Clever is a killer. Except he takes down withers. They are supernatural beast that are amongst us, gods, and they are slowly dwindling thanks to Mr. John Cleaver. A little bit of a mix of Dexter meets Supernatural young John Clever goes into his final mission to stop them all.

The last volume really focuses on John figuring out his purpose. He knows there's only a few withers left and he plans to finish it. He visits a old town, meets a nice young lady, and begins his hunt. With twist and turns it leads to the final confrontation we've been waiting for. Will John live? Will he die? It all comes down to this.

Good: The dialog between John and Harris is easily the best part of the book. Them trying to figure out the way to solve their current issue of killing the rest of the withers is great. I also liked John and his investigation that keeps the pace going steady. The ending is sweet even if a little "too" easy.

Bad: The FBI are kind of fucking retarded in this and the ending makes no sense tbh. I also thought the ending was very rushed and felt kind of empty.

Overall I liked this one but it was one of the weaker ones. Still, it ended the series which was bumpy in the second half anyway. I still like John a lot though and wouldn't mind a series 10 years in the future with new withers.

It brings me great sadness that I didn't enjoy this one that much. As I always say I admire Scott Snyder and enjoy the majority of his work. His Batman run in New52 MADE me a Batman fan. Black Mirror to me is the BEST Batman story ever made. All-Star Batman volume 1-2 were decent, some good moments. Volume 3? I think is the biggest drop in quality to be frank.

This is a story about Alfred. Yes, Bruce is here, but this isn't his time to shine. It's time to see a Batman mission in the eyes of his Butler and father figure. The idea is to hunt down Hush but after we get to the meat of the story we see Alfred's old past start to resurface and mixed in with the current time situation. When a old dark past figure shows up with Alfred be able to help save the Dark Knight once more?

Good: I enjoyed Alfred's mindset. Going into his view of Bruce on a mission was both refreshing and quite frankly kind of sad. It was also nice to see him call Bruce his son naturally. I mean we all knew it but we don't hear it enough. Also I think the art was REALLY good and a step above even volume 1-2.

Bad: The fights were uninspiring throughout. The stakes didn't feel high. Alfred's past history was pretty dull to be honest. I also really really found the extra story, the mafia story after the main story, to be awfully boring. I didn't care about that one at all.

Overall All-Star batman comes to a end (in this format) and I'm pretty sad because it leaves A LOT to be desired for me. Now don't get me wrong. I can't wait to read Metal. I think Scott LOVES Batman. But...maybe give him a new character to work on? I need fresh stories and these felt like kind of throwaway stories. A 2 out of 5.

It Pains me. PAINS ME! To give this less than 3 stars. It's just to unbalanced to give it that "Good-Great" rating. it's not horrible but it's just so meh that I can't bring myself to give it higher than that.

I never got to read this part of Miles story. I stopped reading right after venom and years later now came back to it. Man oh man, what happened?

So it starts off with the crossover of Galactus coming to earth and fucking it up. I feel this event could have been something amazing. I mean big old Galc just standing in the middle of what used to be New Jersey and taunting everything to come at him? That's fucking scary! So Miles decides to help people in danger when this is happening. Then we have a story of, you guessed it, Green Goblin returning! Wait I thought he died? Nope! Guess who else is back? PETER PARKER! OH SNAP! And then the very end of this volume focuses on Miles pop's secret past and the "Spider-Twin" villains.

Good: I actually didn't hate the crossover. I thought watching Miles save people and shit going crazy all over the place. I also thought the golbin's moment with Jamerson were scary and screwed up. Also Ganke made me laugh quite a bit and Miles had some great fight scenes in this one with the Goblin.

Bad: The Hydra story fell REALLY flat. The return of Peter nearly ruined his AMAZING death. Then they just left it up in the air because, screw it. Also sometimes the less you know the better it is. Miles pops story of his past was dull to say the least.

Overall this was a big old disappointment. I'm hoping when I get to Spider-man (Miles own story in 616 universe) it'll be better. This was a big let down. It's too bad too because I love the supporting cast too.
