Review got erased so this will be a lot shorter. Good ending, not amazing, but felt like it tied up a lot of things. I personally enjoyed the last few volumes and believe Bendis did a goodjob overall with this series. Couple of duds but overall some real solid shit.
This was a big old meh bowl. So after the events of Secret Wars the X-Men are back together. Well kind of, least Storm is trying to pull them together. He goes to Jean who's in school and is like "We need you girl!" and got Old Man Logan who they need his help too. So then together they must band together and fight back against bad guys!
What I liked: Jean and Logan together is nice. I enjoy their chemistry and it's the highlight of this. Especially seeing Old Man Logan's regret. Also, Iceman got some funny lines.
What I didn't like: The villains are nameless nobodies. Storm seems like a broken teacher. Cyclops is somehow dead, and died off screen, and is just mentioned. The art is sloppy at times and the fights can be hard to follow.
Yeah overall this is nothing special. I don't think I'll continue this series because this looks like the highest rated one in the series. Owell, they can't all be winners!

Man this brought me back. When i was starting High School I tried getting heavy into X-Men comics. I read New X-Men with a passion. However, I never got to Childhood's end. I got to volume 3 of the original but I didn't bother going back. However, when I opened this book I saw characters I right away remembered. Electric robotic arm girl, guy who can turn into steel, Angel light, and many more.
In this volume we're introduced to a darker world than I remember. After House of M many mutants are dying, or turning into regular humans, and many are afraid. Enter Laura, Wolverine's clone, and we have Emma who doesn't like her much. So this is like X-Men High School edition but that might not be a bad thing.
What I liked: Laura's relationship with everyone is interesting. I really liked the first issue as it shows House of M effecting all different mutants. I also like the kids all interacting with each other and they work well. The art is solid too.
What I didn't like: Emma is a collllld bitch. Like more so than usual. I also dislike how everything is a bit over the top than it needs to be. I get this is a serious situation but kids acting extra kiddy isn't really needed. Also the stryker stuff isn't all that interesting till the last shot.
Overall this is solid X-Men fun. I remember liking the original series but this darker tone might make me love it in the end. I hear it gets better to. Onward we go!

Before there was Game of Thrones there was...CHILDHOOD's END! No, but seriously, talk about killing off characters in a matter of a few pages. The events before this volume lead up to Stryker hitting the mansion and murdering the X-Men and their kids. Talk about a fucking sicko. Who goes after kids ages 14-16 because of who they are? Oh yeah, what am I saying, we live in a America where Nazi's reside.
Anyway, politics aside, this was some off the walls shit. So in the last volume the bus filled with kids gets hit with a rocket. This volume opens up with the funeral for these kids and during the funeral we have flashbacks of the night that attack on the bus happened. To see the kids dealing with watching their friends die in front of them. It's disturbing and that's only the beginning. The plans move forward and more kids are in the cross-hairs of these sick fucks.
The Good: The pacing is near perfect. Giving you JUST enough pages to breath but the intense action and doomed atmosphere never lets up. The kids who work much better in this while arguing over the deaths of their fallen team mates. Talking about growing up quick. The fights are brutal and savage and give a feeling of loss when people are hurt or killed. The twist with Laura was smart too.
The Bad: The art is still uneven at times. Also these volumes are short and you feel like it ends far too soon. Which might be a good thing? Still, 4 issues is very short.
Overall this is great. I really like the feeling of death always being around our heroes. Killing off main characters gives the vibes no one is safe. This makes the story more interesting. On to the next one!

This is my 300th review of the year! WooOOoooooT! I finally hit my challenge, and way earlier than expected. Anyway...
What a title to finish my 300th title of the year on. Kill or Be Killed continues to be the best new graphic novel of the year. Ed Brubaker brings his motherfucking A game on this title. The first volume was amazing for me. This one? Just as freaking good. I think I need to read more of Ed right now!
So this volume focuses on Dylan killing more and more people but we also see something new. Kira comes back into the picture as the worrying friend. However, the best new feature is getting to see the police side of things. Lily is a powerful woman who isn't stupid but the department sure treats her that way. To her she only wants to prove the case and catch the killer. So the cat and mouse begins and it's starting to get crazy by the end.
What I liked: The art is still AMAZING, the fire fights and characters face really show emotion. I also loved the demon talk with the Dylan. The jumping around the story makes the pacing frantic yet exciting. Lily is awesome and I can't wait for more of her.
What I didn't like: Kira gets a little too much time and kind of hurts the flow just a little.
Overall this is another knock out of the park. Ed continues to give us one of the best crime stories in the last few years. I fucking loved it and giving it a 5/5.

This was pretty bad. This collection kind of tells the last few stories between wonder woman and Superman before he bites the bullet. As you know the dude is dying. Doesn't it suck you lose your powers and then you die a few months later when get them back? Lolz or what? SO this basically tells the loss of their relationship and their goodbyes.
What I liked: Some tender moments that work well with the characters. Also really enjoyed the art in the first story.
What I didn't like: The last two issues were useless. Nothing really connected in this one at all. You have to read intros to every issue to understand what's happening in that issue. The art is very very all over the place after issue 1.
Overall this is just meh, kind of bad, but I did like some moments so still gets a 1.5. I'll bump it to 2 just because we're saying goodbye to this series which overall, was very bumpy anyway.

I can't help but want so much more for this. I think the ideas here are great. I think the world building works at times. I even think just the idea of Clark going around a new Krypton trying to help his people rebuild is very interesting.
This volume basically comes right from the events of the last one in which Zod was shot. Of course he's still alive even when shot through the chest cause these fuckers never die. So then the very next arc after that is watching a mystery of another guy dying and superman and friends searching for the killer.
The Good: The ideas, again, are smart and great. I also loved the moments when Clark handles his own shit and takes down people.
The Bad: The plot is SLOW and not in a interesting way. The art can be really ugly at times too. The world building, while well done, has all been done before. Also, it's been done better.
This is the last volume of this storyline but we still have WAR for New Krypton! Let's hope that's more exciting than this...or not...who knows.

Superman: Last Stand of New Krypton, Vol. 1
Julián López, Jamal Igle, Sterling Gates, Eric Trautmann, James Robinson, Pete Woods
THE LAST STAND!
The FIGHT to end all fights!
Or you know...just another big brawl with Superman at the helm.
The four volumes leading up to this help build this battle up to a final climax. Brianiac is coming after Superman's new home. What a surprise right? However, he has a secret partner up his sleeve. If you read volume 1-2 you can probably guess who that is. Also the world of Krypton is going to shit and Zod is being his regular asshole self. No fear though we have the justice society or something coming to help. I forgot their name. Anyway, Superboy and Mon-el, the only two worth mentioning, come to New Kryton to help.
Good: The fights are pretty epic and very large in scale. Superman ending is great in here. I also loved the Mon-el parts because honestly he's pretty badass (plus love that suit) and Kara was pretty cool too. Putting on that kiss was pretty awesome.
Bad: The plot is so simple it hurts. Like everything you expect to happen...happens. The Villain isn't interesting, sorry, Brianiac is just boring. Having a helper isn't all that great either. Also, Zod is a dick, and no one sees that. It's pretty annoying.
Overall this was fun but it's pretty forgettable. This major war just feels like another big brawl. It's not bad, but it's not all that memorable. A 2.5 is probably what I'd give it.

This was a good conclusion. This picks up pretty much where volume 1 left off. I liked the first volume but didn't love it. Wonder Woman is in the loony bin and trying to figure out the truth. When her friends come to rescue her it all begins to make sense. Sacrifices, lies, and fights all begin to erupt in this storyline to conclude Greg's run.
Good: The art is still solid though a little dark for my taste. Still good though. The the ending to the arc was a lot better than the start and got me invested. The ending was sad but the very ending was really nice, and Diana getting laid was long overdo. Girl needs to get her freak on after unleashing all her frustration beating down baddies.
Bad: The art can be really bad at times. The blocking bullet scene comes to mind. Also the beginning is a drag and not all that interesting till they go to free the princess. Also not a good jump on point, you have to read the first volume or be very very confused.
Overall this was a solid finish. Not my favorite WW storyline but a decent one none the less. Will say pick it up for WW fans for sure, I just didn't love it like year one storyline (On to volume 4!)

I always thought Civil War was a let down. I still think that years later. I actually re-read this because been playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and the story in there is pretty bad, the comic version isn't much better.
So if you don't know what Civil War is about, where the fuck you've been? Tony wants superheroes to register in the united states. Basically be super agents for Shield. Cap says no, we need out secret identities otherwise we can be in trouble. Tus, the war begins, and our heroes begin to brawl with each other.
Good: The points brought up on both sides can be pretty interesting. I also love the Spider-man reveal and brings the character to a new level. I also like the IDEA of this and think it could have really given us some amazing stories.
Bad: However, most of the plot results in punching each other in the face. Also the art is iffy, and while sometimes nice, sometimes is downright ugly. Also the pacing is a bit iffy and it feels like it wraps up way to quick for such big movements in the universe.
Overall it's closer to a 2.5 than a 2 but still, this title has always been okay. Hype hype hype, but not delivering. I know it might be insane to say but I thought Civil War 2 was actually worth more on what it was saying. Atleast I had more fun. Owells.
