This is so...lame? Damn it. What happened here? Well it's simple really. Take a super depowered Superman, which is just boring as fuck, and Gordan worst characterization I've ever seen and you get this...team up? Well more like arguing a lot till you team up and then fight a generic villain over and over again.
What I liked: The art is solid and the start is interesting.
What I didn't like: Everything else. The plot is bad, the pacing is slow, and the fights are so weak it was never entertaining.
So yeah...big old skip. Not the worst thing ever but I won't remember it. 1.5 out of 5.

All-New X-Men, Vol. 6: The Ultimate Adventure
Brian Michael Bendis, Stuart Immonen, Wade Von Grawbadger
Man oh man, this was pretty fun. So after reading volume 4 of Uncanny X-Men and REALLY enjoying it I almost wanted to go to volume 5 but instead I jumped back to All-New X-Men so I keep in some type of order. Now, last volume of All New X-Men was good but I always worry because I hear it falls deep into the shitty zone. However, volume 6 is not that drop!
So we got the New X-Men, which are really the old X-Men, but they're teenagers traveling to the Ultimate Universe. If you don't know what that is, it's a Marvel universe similar to 616 (the regular) but with variations on characters and stories. When they get there both hilarity and touching moments begin when the X-Men meet the Ultimate X-Men (and Ultimate Spider-man which...I guess happened cause Bendis made him and also they know it'll sell more).
What I liked: Loved the Jean meeting Jean moments. I also dug the whole Iceman coming into his own. Also his talk with his ultimate counterpart was funny as hell. I dug Miles flirting with Jean cause lol who wouldn't? hot red head come on! The pacing was also pretty great and it just flies by with the snappy dialog and story.
What I didn't like: Spider-man felt a bit forced in. Beast could have gotten a better gig in here. He seemed a afterthought. The power of the girl who can take you to different realities felt a bit forced too but you know, we have to have a story.
Overall, this was pretty fun and enjoyable. Def was a good volume in this long running series. If you enjoyed All-New X-Men up to this point I doubt this will disappoint either!

I really like Brad Meltzer writing. I know some people hate Identity Crisis but I REALLY enjoyed it. So then this is like the follow-up and once again I believe Brad creatures believable dialog with strong character motives. He also has the ability to give B list and C list characters depth that makes you care about them.
This story mostly focuses on Justice League rebuilding. Batman, Supes, and Wonder are all just chilling talking about recruiting. As they're doing that we see Red Tornado dealing with his switch into a real human body. It's touching and the time we get to the part with his family rejoicing over his new body you have the emotions you need to get attached. Then of course, without spoilers, shit goes down.
What I liked: The dialog is very solid and everyone sounds REAL. huge plus. The art is very good and no complaints from me. Red Tornado's story is both filled with hope and sadness. Loved every moment with him. The ending is touching and sweet yet you still feel that the risk these characters go through is very very scary.
What I didn't like: Okay, to be honest, the whole Vex storyline and black lighting were kind of boring. They're only 1/5th of the story but they are there, and it slows down the pace a lot.
Overall this is another solid comic by Meltzer. So sad that this is about all he's done in the comic realm. I'd love to read more from him. Well least he made two great DC comics I'll always remember fondly of.

So this wasn't bad. Better than the last two that's for sure. Dark Truth is all about Supes being depowered and still working out his relationship with his girlfriend wonder woman. What happens here is Supes isn't really that Super anymore and WW thinks she needs to help him at every turn, which the way he throws himself in danger, she has the right to be worried.
What I liked: The art was solid once again, and unlike Batman/Superman stays the same. The moments with Diana and Clark is touching and feels real. Also, how great was it when Lois got her fucking face smacked. Finally!
What I didn't like: Lois is the absolute worse. Her New52 version has always been bad, but talk about awful, that's all her. Also the breaking up shit was pretty badly done, even if it somewhat makes sense.
Overall this is like a 2.5. It's good, fun at times, but the reasoning behind the motives and some of the dialog is really off putting. Owell, this is the end so yay!

This probably around a 3.5 but I'll throw it to a 4 simply because this was really FUN reading it. I'm not a HUGE X-Men fan but for years my buddy was like "Try X-Factor" It's nothing like the regular X-men. I said sure, sure, sure. One day. Well today is the motherfucking day! I flipped this open (or swiped since read it on my phone from Marvel Unlimited) and what a surprise.
Jamie is that dude who can make copies of himself. Heard about him right? No? That's okay, me either. However, this series focuses on him and his troubles with his powers and how each clone or copy he makes of himself is a little bit of him and something else. Including able to absorb back the hurt ones of himself and experience all that pain and memories. This leads on to a investigation after one of his clones was stabbed! Hey, I'm all for a mystery!
What I liked: The art was very early 2000's but that's some of my favorite art. Also I really enjoyed the humor in here. Not trying to hard, just simple, but effective. The motivation behind the character felt right and he wasn't trying to be a hero but more of a detective of sorts. Also the supporting cast was great.
What I didn't like: The overall twist was easy to see coming because we've seen it before. Also the middle dragged just a tad bit. It might be confusing too at first cause none of these characters are even C-List heroes.
Once you get into the flow of things Madrox is a very very fun and unique book. It truly is NOTHING Like a x-men title but you get the mutant parts of it. Which is cool. I'm looking forward to reading the next volume very soon!

Superman – Action Comics, Volume 5: What Lies Beneath
Sandra Hope, Greg Pak, Lee Weeks, Scott McDaniel, R.B. Silva, Jed Dougherty, Mike Hawthorne, Aaron Kuder, Ray McCarthy
I can't believe I skipped this one on my initial Acton Comics reading run! See, I read volume 1-3 and after 3 I was drained cause Morrison wrote the last two volumes to hurt me. So then I read volume 4 and it was OKAY. But still, I was burnt. So I didn't return till near the "Truth" arc and skipped volume 5-6 and went into 7-8. I shouldn't have done that. Though I'll skip 6 cause here it's awful.
Volume 5 is really a book you can pick up BY ITSELF. It's very good, self contained, superman story that hits all the right marks. Clark is going around the city saving the world but before we get that we get a little Zero Year story about clark. Then we turn right into modern day where we get a reunited Clark and Lana Lang. Except they meet up again because a big blue monster is attacking her!
What I liked: I fucking LOVED the chemistry and dialog between Lana and Clark. It's so well done and feels authentic. I wanted THEM to get together. Screw Wonder Woman. Then you have the big blue monster, who we later find out is someone special, and it's the cutest thing ever and heartbreaking by the end. I also loved Superman in here. Even in his zero year part, which is great, you get to see inside what makes superman freaking SUPER. Also how awesome was Lana lang in this? THANK YOU!
What I didn't like: Sometimes the art couldn't keep up with the awesomeness of the rest of this. It felt off balanced. Also the underground city is kind of silly, even for a series that contains a flying alien.
Overall I really dug the shit out of this volume. I wish the rest of action comics was as good as this (it's not) but this is a perfect volume you can pick up and enjoy without reading anything else. Damn it, I want more!

Damn I was glued to the pages reading this one. Uncanny X-Men came from meh (Gave volume 1-2 2 stars) to this. A epic, big, scary, nail biting adventure. So our Omega Level Mutant is OUT OF CONTROL. Scott decides to try and help the young man but in the end wants to use his powers to top off this mutant revolution.
The volume mostly are conversations and arguments. This might not be enough for some. However, when the fights happen it's pretty goddamn epic. So with the time ticking down, every trick they can think of, the Omega Level mutant murdering people at the same time, will the X-Men be able to save the world?
What I liked: The art is pretty great in this. The big attacks/explosion events are fucking stunning. Also loved cyclops and Magneto arguing. It felt so chilly in there I got the shakes. The Omega Level mutant is just sad as hell...I feel bad for his situation. The ending I can see some saying it's a cop out but man oh man, the risk taken there, and the very end are heart breaking.
What I didn't like: There's one moment where shield does something and it feels very odd that no one reacted quick enough. It just stuck with me. Also as much as I DO love the art sometimes there are facial expressions that are just...ugly? Or off?
Overall this two part arc was stunning for me. Some of my favorite in X-Men that I've read. Volume 4-5 tell a complete story and the Omega Level threat brought the hype and motivation to build this series up some.

Whoa...this was...awful? Maybe it's the collection itself I have a problem with it. You get a 1 shot, then 2 cross over issues, and then the end reverts back to the X-Men for just a few moments mostly to out a character. That's it...
The big "controversy" here is Iceman coming out that he's gay. The scene is kind of cute, and Jean Grey being kind of catty and bitchy helps. Iceman even says "How's that possible? Bobby in the future isn't gay" but Jean goes 'Really? You sure? All his relationships suck" and you know what, these X-Men aren't the same as their future self. For example, I hate old jean, but I love this Jean. So there you go.
What I liked: Just the moments with Iceman and Jean. That's really about it. Also Jean is hot. Yep.
What I didn't like: The one shot was boring as hell. Training mission that leads nowhere. The vortex crossover event was fucking confusing and who gives a shit? I'd have to read this whole event to care. Also after Bobby comes out a new villain comes but who really cares at this point? Waste.
Overall this was a huge letdown. I liked almost all the volumes except 1 or 2, but this is a AWFUL collection. SKippppppp.

This was...boring? So Superman decides to go to the new Krypton and join the ranks. He of course goes into the miltary guild because...why not? He's a good fighter. You then get to see how they operate and what happens when a hold up and hostages are involved. Clark decides to show Zod how shit is done.
What I liked: I thought some of the side characters were fun and interesting. I like how Superman keeps the hope up even in a darker situation. Also Hal and Supes catching up was fun.
What I didn't like: The whole way they run their new home is boring. Like the ranks and different fractions should have been BETTER or more interesting. I also really disliked the amount of chit-chat when it really resulted in "Trust me. I'm superman. Follow me"
Overall it was just a really boring volume compared to the last which was far more interesting. Owell, only one more to go!

So this entire volume is basically just fight to survive. Which in theory sounds cool. However, you again, don't get any time with this cast to care if they live or die. The only two semi-interesting characters are not in harms way because...plot protection? So that leaves with a very safe ending to the battle and the events that follow aren't much better.
What I liked: Seeing a gigantic titan in flames was awesome. Some of the deaths were fucked up and worthy of the AoT name. I also liked the fact the leader of the corps isn't a moron.
What I didn't like: The fights are still hard to follow, the plot seems to be going around in circles, the main two leads are in need of some more dialog to make them interesting and the story itself needs some help.
This is another less than good title from this series. I borrowed up to volume 6 so let's hope it gets better...it has to right? Come on.
