This is right around a 3.5. I think Detective Comics remains engaging and fun throughout it's series run though the best part is still the first arc for me. This one brings in the league of shadows. For some odd reason Batman believes they aren't real. Then we find out why he believes that. Then we have some side story with Batwing and Clayface which is entertaining but feels like a afterthought. The main event is Cassandra and her life as Orphan.
What I liked: Anything to do with Cass is GREAT. The moments of quietness for the character really help grow her. I also love any fight scenes with her because she's the most vicious fighter on the team. Add on the fact her relationship with different people is always interesting. I also like Batwomen alot in here, she came across most relatable here. Also thought Clayface was adorable here, as he is becoming one of my favorite characters.
What I didn't like: Batman's plot felt uneven. I also felt Batman was kind of dumb? Like he just seemed to be surprised and confused at everything. Also his reaction with the mayor felt offbeat. I also still don't care about Batwomen's father. So anything with him was mehish. The art seemed to be pretty bad at certain points too.
Overall Detective Comics is still a must read for Batman fans. I think it balances a lot of characters pretty wall. Also the character growth of people like Cass make it well worth reading for fans of the character.

I already reviewed 2/3rds of this book with JLA. So I won't go in to great detail on it. I liked the setup issues for the big Throne of Atlantis fight. Just keep in mind shit's about to go DOWN but if you read it in Justice League you might be disappointed.
What I liked: The set up, the war, the brotherly fight. This is everything Aquaman is about. It's truly a amazing arc and one of the best for our young King. The ending is bitter sweet and really sets up the finish for Johns run.
What I didn't like: The fact I read it haha. That and the Justice League were acting kind of dumb here.
Read my Justice League review to get all my hyped moments for this fight. However, don't get it twisted, this is one of the best Aquaman arcs I've ever read!

Can we just take a moment to note I found a new comic crush? I got to thank Johns and the artist on this run to really make me love Mera. Not only is she badass, can defend herself, and is super smart. She's fucking sexy. Like DAMN GURL sexy. Like it's scary how hot I find her because she's on a piece of paper and not real. The movie gotta do a lot of work to live up to this one!
Aquaman is trying to balance respecting people above the sea while fighting for the throne below. The people are following him but not all respect him. This volume really goes wild and we see multiple views of different characters that all begin to intertwine with each other. By the end we get a reveal that was both sad and horrifying. Especially for Arthur.
What I liked: I loved Mera in here. Her coming to terms of who she wants to be was a perfect full circle. Then you got Arthur learning that a king's choice could be a dangerous one. I really enjoyed most of the side characters, even the selfish ones focusing on destruction and death. They had reason to. I also liked the big reveal, I thought that was well done and handled with care.
What I didn't like: Mera's "husband" was a silly character and the big "OH NO" ending was kind of forced. It be better if it was Mantis...the person he went for makes no sense for that character IMO.
Overall Johns run was super fun and exciting. Even the worst volume (volume 2) was still a lot of fun just the weakest. I truly recommend people wanting to give Aquaman a chance to check out Johns run. Well worth the read.

Wow...this was a big old stinker....maybe I should go back to volume 1? Anyone? Is it worth it? Because jumping in at volume 5 was the WRONG idea lol. So this volume basically has Amanda Waller using the suicide squad to survive after we learn how fucked up she could be. Oh and on top of that we get a lot of twist and turns, betrayals, but like...who cares? None of these characters are interesting. Which is insane when you have James Gordan, the fucking psycho killer, and Harley Quinn in a book. Like how wrong can you go? Pretty bad.
What I liked: I kind of liked James in this...you know cause he's a piece of shit and fits the squad well...but man oh man...that's about it.
What I didn't like: The plot was messy and not fun to follow. Pacing was a drag. Most of the characters felt lifeless and not themselves. King Shark was even dull. How you gonna have a talking fucking shark man be dull? Amanda is just not interesting. Sorry fans but she's dull and even more so in this volume than any other SS book I read. Problem? She's the main character of this arc...
Maybe I'm expecting too much? I mean I loved All New Suicide Squad. It was wacky and fun. But every suicide squad read after has sucked. Maybe should just stick to New SS or maybe go back and start this series at 1. Either way this was a big old BUST! 1/5.

The story is building but this volume not a lot of major things happen. I get that it's building towards things but for once I felt this might be a bit of filler. Still, very well written and fun to go through but as far as plot progression I felt it was a bit weak from what I'd come to expect.
Holy nuts....I forgot how many people die here. Like damn man, we lost probably 85% of the cast here. This volume continues right where we left off. Every time we think there's just one more enemy another just pops up. Kei is getting tired of this shit and rushes in and BAM shit goes crazy. Many people sliced in half by the end. So many dead. How will we recover?
What I liked: Man the carnage in here is insane. I was actually a bit in shocked at one scene. I didn't think two characters would bite the dust. Also how epic was that moment when Kei goes fucking insane? That was great. Also the sniper still a pro, love that dude. This is also very very fast paced, so not a dull moment.
What I didn't like: This fight is going on a bit long. We should have ended this volume with the fight. We still have more. Also the two gangsters were just a waste of time. They needed to die sooner. Also the girl who's in love with Kei is all like "I love you" when you met 10 minutes ago...dumb.
Overall Gantz is still uneven at this point but still insanely fun. If you love gore, cursing, lots of tits, and some amazing fight scenes you should be checking this series out. A solid 3 to 3.5 out of 5.

I'd go with a 3.5. I don't see why people dislike this so much. I had fun. Doctor Doom is trying to be a good boy now. You know, after becoming a God and all. So now that Tony is out (that dang Civil War knocked his ass out) the hero we've all wanted comes into the spotlight! Riri...OH WAIT! NO IT'S MOTHERF'ING DOOM!!!!!! Yeah Victor has had enough of doing nice things with people and not getting respect. He decides to take on that mantel of Iron-man and do some good in the world. How? By slowly hunting down big time baddies cause he knows them so well due to being one of them before.
What I liked: I thought the dialog was fun and light. Bendis is a love or hate it type of guy for most people, I luckily love most of it. I also thought the big "reveal" who was behind it was pretty damn good. I was like "Oh shit" even though I don't believe it's actually them. It can't be...right? I also really like how Doom is so different than Tony and Riri. With so many Iron-man characters you have to have them all very different and he does feel that way.
What I didn't like: The Thing fight was a let down. Built up to something epic but in reality was just a few pages of nothingness. Downer. Also the fact the art is a little hard to follow. I really can't tell whats happening. Also it's odd Doom is Iron-man suit because...does he need to be? He's so overpowered anything. Which makes him very powerful, which makes every enemy seem like nothing.
Overall I had fun reading it. I can see why some people dislike it but I quite liked it. More so than Iron-man volume 1-2. So I plan on sticking with this one!

While not as fun and insane as the first volume I still found myself enjoying this one. This time Mantis, Deadshot, and Boomrang are all on a mission to go undercover to take out a new "cult" clan that broke off from the League of Shadows. Harley, Reverse Flash, and Prasite are all on duty too as backup incase things go bad. So...things go bad. Lots of shit happens. And things explode. Sounds like Suicide Squad to me!
What I liked: Art still solid. I really enjoy the moments with Deadshot and Mantis, or any of the characters really taking together. They have fun, make fun of each other, and this makes the chemistry always entertaining if nothing else. I also enjoyed the ending and thought it was kind of brave to kill off a character. Their death was actually pretty well done too. Even villains can do heroic things sometimes.
What I didn't like: The plot was really weak. The league were terrible villains. I didn't care about any of them. Also Mantis was kind of acting out of character for me. I just didn't buy the sudden change...it felt forced.
Overall I still had a lot of fun with this volume. Still better than any other suicide squad comic I read. I hear Sean Ryan leaves soon. That makes me sad. I'm going to miss the dialog banter between everyone. Oh well, I'll enjoy it while it last.

So the last volume of action comics was a little uneven for me. However, I enjoyed the first volume a lot (I know half and half for most people. Doomsday played out but I thought the fight was fun). So now we get a arc that focuses on Lex and Superman's trust in the man. The Godslayer is here and he has said Lex MUST DIE! Superman hears the reasoning of why Lex must die but will he agree to it? Well shit man, you gotta read to find out!
What I liked: Something about Lex and Clark teaming up was a ton of fun. Especially this Lex, who've I enjoyed. Smart as ever yet on the side of good. It's interesting to see him work together. I also enjoyed the art. Everything is so nice and easy to follow. On top of that the moments with the family is both fun and interesting. I thought Dan always got that right since Lois and Clark.
What I didn't like: The other clark storyline needs to get moving quick. He's interesting, but they make him come across as creepy killer here almost and wondering if that's the path or not. They need to expose him!
Overall this is another fun adventure into the world of Superman. If I'm to be honest Superman is Rebirth's best right now. Both Action Comics and Superman have been really really SOLID. I hope it continues this way!
