Don't be confused by the 3 star. The actual Victim Syndicate storyline is great. It's well told, powerful, and exciting. It's the Batwoman storyline I could have lived without. (Issue 948 and 949 which is what they say will be included in the volume on Amazon)
The victim syndicate is all about the fallout of Robin and Batman dealing with a group of people who wants to prove how dangerous the bat is. How many lives he touches negatively. What I really enjoyed here is watching Batman doubt himself. Wondering if he even remembers names or faces of the people he hurt indirectly in dealing with villains. The snydicate isn't just the regular "bad guys" they def have some true and good motive. It's just their approach that is wrong.
Also we get to see the other character's deal with Tim's death. Especially Spoiler, who still won't forgive Bruce. Which is very understandable. I didn't love how quick her change was but I did like the fact she simply doesn't forgive him right away. It's called doubt, it's called emotion, and sometimes they trump logic. I really enjoyed that.
The Batwoman storyline at the end was cool to get some background on her, but I just...I dunno didn't care. She's the least interesting member for me and I was having a hard time focusing or caring about her plot. It felt like a waste.
So for here I'd go VS storyline - 4. Batwoman - 2 = 3 overall. Or 3.5. Either way another solid volume, much better than current Batman solo series.

Wow I almost went with a 5 star but the last issue isn't as good as the rest. I really gotta say I'm enjoying The Dark Knight series a lot. I might go back to volume 1 and read 4 as well. I might like this more than most. I like Batman but I LOVE his villains. He's one hero that I enjoy his rogue gallery more than him. Give me a series that focuses on them and sign me right the hell up. This one focuses on Mad Hatter. Now if you told me I'd enjoy a story with mad freaking Hatter in it I'd laugh. But guess what? This was pretty awesome.
What I liked: The origins of Mad Hatter are tragic. You feel for the guy. He makes a choice, a dumb one in a way, but he's a kid. It's the only choice he saw fit. Then he takes out his rage of all the screw ups he did and murders and kills people to his liking while being just a tad bit nuts. Worst part? It's not even all his fault. Them drugs man. I really enjoyed the origin. I also dug the fact you can see inside batman's head and know he's not always so "cool". Also how great was it to see Batman go rage mode? Always nice.
What I didn't like: The last issue felt rushed. I wish this story went on longer. I felt Mad Hatter was too easy to defeat after all the fucked up shit he'd done. I also thought the art was weird. Like sometimes great, other times really stiff.
Overall I really enjoyed this a lot. I'd say this is great for fans of Batman's rogue gallery. It focuses on them and gives you a nice deep insight in to them. I gotta say this is one of the biggest surprised series for me. A 4/5.

Nightwing Vol. 2: Rough Justice
Chuck Dixon, Devin Grayson, Karl Story, Greg Land, Scott McDaniel, Bob McLeod
I'm having a good time going back to the 90's and 2000's for Batfamily. This was way better than I expected. Volume 1 was a bit uneven but this is a lot more focused. This has a few arcs, mostly revolving around Blockbuster (Dick's main enemy) and a little Batman and Bat-man (The guy who turns into a bat). We also get a little two issue arc story about the time Dick married someone and they were bad.
What I liked: Really dug everything with Blockbuster. He's a fun, over the top, Kingpin like villain. Nightwing and Batman teaming up to take him down was both fun and exciting and we see Dick grow as a person. I also enjoyed the arc after with the Bat creature. It reminded me of the LIzard. Enjoyed the difference of how Batman would approach it verse how Nightwing does. The art was a little easier to follow in this volume too.
What I didn't like: The last two issues contained a wonky story and a old school look that felt out of place compared to the rest. I felt this was the weakest part.
Overall I enjoyed reading this a lot. Enough to buy the next few volumes. I really hope Nightwing keeps up being this good.

There's terrible comics. When the dialog is so awful you can't read it. There's stupid comics. Where the plot is so dumb there's no questioning it. Then there's this...a pointless comic with a pointless plot with a pointless cast of characters doing pointless things. So to sum it up it's very much pointless. Too bad to because was interested in the concept.
What I liked: The idea of it.
What I didn't like: Everything else. Art was okay at best. The characters all sounded the same and none were likeable. The ending was TERRIBLE. The fights were as boring as could be. The whole idea was truly pointless and you can see why it's canceled so quick.
Skip this one completely. Not worth your time and money. I rather read All Star Batman by crazy frank miller than this. SKIP!!!!

Edit - So Issue 23-24 came in here. At the time of reading single issues it did not say that. So now it does let's rate those!
Issue 23 - 5/5 - It's one of the best stories I've read from King. Like ever. It shows off Bruce and Swamp Thing teaming up. Let's just say things get emotional, the art is wonderful, the ending is heartbreaking, and it makes me want a Swamp Thing solo story again. This was very very very well done.
Issue 24 - 4/5 - I really love the way he writes Catwomen. Her and Bruce's relationship is interesting. However the highlight here is Gotham Girl talking to Bruce. It's both insightful of their differences in outlooks but how they're similar with their heroism. I enjoyed this quite a lot and the ending is exciting.
Fucking FINALLY! King is here and he ready to write a GOOD arc.
Okay well I liked I am Gotham. Some of it was dumb, but some of it was epic, and some great character moments. This is the first "Great" arc for me though in King's run.
So this volume starts off with the Batfamily. Let me just say the first issue is hands down one of my favorite Rebirth issues. Damien, Dick, and Jason eating at batburger was FUNNY as hell and just worked so well. Then the issue ends with a "Oh shit" moment and it gets us into the meat of the arc. Bane vs Batman. Been there done that, right? However the build up, Bane showing he's not just muscle. Then the comparison of their upbringing and how goals may be the same but environment and people transform you into something very different. I really enjoyed the fact Batman doesn't just mutter the same words over and over again like in "I Am Sucide" which was stupid. He's quiet here but when he speaks it's filled with Zingers and fuck yous. That's what I need from bats.
Yeah sure it still had some confusing panels here and there (catwomen one?) and some stuff wraps up to quick (how were they all saved, oh they just were) things like that are silly. But the rest? Man it was good. I loved the final showdown (I hear some didn't). But for me, this is what I wanted from King's run. Hope it keeps up.

This is what I'm talking about. Took awhile but things are starting to pick up. Big bird ain't playing and he wants Kei dead. So the boy does what he does best. Get's the fuck out of dodge while still fucking shit up. The final moments of this "boss" battle are great and really lead into the real world fuck ups.
What I liked: Much faster paced, Kei growing a spine (tho he a asshole), we get some great fighting moments, and a build up to a ending that's about to explode. I liked almost all of this quickly paced racey volume of Gantz. This is when the series begins to grow and get more and more exciting.
What I didn't like: Still a lot of unnecessary fan-service but least all the girls are hot?
Gantz is getting to the good stuff and we're about to get better and better. I really love Gantz and what it becomes and we about to get to it. Okay short review, but yeah, this series rocks!

This was really solid. When you throw in a ton of different writers/art styles into one book you can assure it'll always be mixed results. Some stuff you'll love, some you'll like, and some you'll just wanna skip as soon as possible. No Man's Land is a Batman mega crossover that happened in the 90's and early 2000's where Gotham was hit with a earthquake and left to basically die. So Batman is back in town but now it's all broken into sections where people hold territories from Joker, to GCPD, to Batman turf. It's a all out war!
What I liked: Most of the stories involving Gordan, Batgirl, or Batman are all solid. I also really enjoyed the two face story quite a bit. The art, when good, was really solid for it's time. The concept is great too and keeps things fresh. The Superman issue was way too funny as Superman basically like "Fuck these people" in the end.
What I didn't like: Some of the issues were meh. Especiall Azreal or whatever his name is. This Christian crime fighter is just dull and screams 90's. Also his suit sucks and his art is so bad in comparison to the rest of the artwork in here. Also the penguin story was far too long and found very little interest in that.
Overall it's around a 3.5. It's solid, interesting, and had some great stories. It's the mix of 4-6 issues of blah that bring it down. Still worth checking out for Batman fans for sure! Gotta grab volume 2!

This was a pretty exciting sequel to the great first volume. Others are a group Aquaman used to work with. I think of them as the throwaway Justice League. The start up gang. The dudes you hang out with as teenagers and then you all grow to be different people. This could be bad. This could be boring. But you got my boy Black Mantis who is just murdering them one by one to draw out Aquaman. AND BAM! The chase is on.
What I liked: Giving just enough background to understand why Mantis and Author hate each other. The killing in this is horrifying and scary. Mantis is a villain for sure, and still one of my favorites. I also enjoyed the pacing. Mix the present with the past but it never really has a dull moment.
What I didn't like: Still don't care about the others. They just seem like as rag tag group of throwaway characters. I never even heard of them before this. Also the art seemed a little unbalanced unlike volume 1. Sometimes things looked a little sloppy.
Overall this was a fun and exciting volume but I don't think it was super memorable. If anything we can take away from this is Mantis is a badass. He's scary as fuck, and that makes it worth it. Also how badass is Aquaman when he's pissed? I'd say pretty badass!

This volume was a little of a mixed bag for me. It feels almost like a different story at first. It's about a Yakuza boss who is just a crazy fuck. The first few pages he forces another Yakuza to suck his dick. Then we focus on a couple who are together and talking about getting married. Then the Yakuza spots her and decides to make her his. Our main robot hero doesn't even show up until about 2/3rds into the story.
What I liked: Art is still really solid as always. It fits this style really well. The ending is both pleasing to the eyes and heart. It's a wonderful moment. I also thought that having the female character being displayed as strong and smart when fighting was good. Sometimes they keep the victims weak and you can tell this one shouldn't be.
What I didn't like: Felt like a odd place to put a subplot so early in the story. Also found it weird how the old guy found them so fast. I wish there was a bit of build up. Also it went by so quick that it was pure based on action. Fun but felt like missing a little something!

Gantz is always entertaining. However, it's not always a homerun. I really dug volume 5 a lot. This volume feels unfinished. Well not unfinished but it's the start of the next hunt. Not nearly as good as the second half of the hunt. It's about to get fucked up. However, this is just the start of it and more of a setup for that. We also get to know the new players a little more here.
What I liked: Kei taking lead. Actually fucking shit up. Taking down giant monsters with ease. Starting to remind us of the 8th grader who was whooping ass, except without the dumb ass attitude with it. Also liked the fact the new guys are useful. Well least the sniper. I was wondering when a useful player would be showing up.
What I disliked: What the fuck was with the new chick just fucking Kei out of nowhere? He's like "I wanna fuck you" and the girl is like "Are you retarded?" then she sucks his dick? WUT? Also what the hell was with Kei's best buddy still not willing to kill? I get not wanting to but these aliens/monsters are here to FUCK US UP. Kill them you moron or you die...again.
I love this series but some volumes are more frustrating than others. This is one of those haha. But I will keep reading because it's NEVER boring!
