I had fun with this. It wasn't amazing or even great, but it was solid enough for me to have a good time with it.
I grew up with Batman Beyond. I respect the 90's Batman Cartoon but it wasn't my thing. I loved Batman Beyond and even the cheese that came with it. Saying that I never read a comic of his. I always felt like it would tarnish the image of Terry so I never tried. I just didn't think it was worth my time.
Till Rebirth announced they'd be doing a series. I jumped on to try it out. Glad I did because this was pretty fun. Watching Terry and his brother work together to take down the Jokerz or whatever the hell they are is both fun and badass at points. Sure it's simply by the numbers superhero writing but sometimes that's all I need to have a fun read.
I liked Max and Terry's relationship. Even more so I like Bruce and Terry. The feels at the end of this volume made me smile. Sure you could see it coming from a mile away but it's good. I also could see the very ending coming but hey, who didn't?
I hope this series can builds. This feels very "First volume/arc kickoff" and it'll get better from here. I can only hope. I say give this one a chance!

Once again another very enjoyable volume.
I love that the stories have heart and hits reality yet it still feels out of this world and zanny. It's a weird combo that somehow works really well here. A certain someone gets into a relationship, another one breaks one off, and another is kind of going on a drinking binge of somesort and becoming...weird. Yet it all works well.
I don't like to go too far into detail because I feel it would ruin the story itself. Just keep in mind this series gives you three main character, a solid supporting cast, and gives you daily life lessons of how to deal with life. Which, there is no sure answer, and that makes them enjoyable to watch go through. Also it has lols.
So another 3.5-4/5 volume!

All-Star Batman, Volume 2: Ends of the Earth
Scott Snyder, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Francesco Francavilla, Tula Lotay, Jock
I really want to love this more. I love 90% of Snyder's work. I just didn't love it.
However, I will say I did like a good portion. So let's start with that.
The Good: I really loved Mr. Freeze/Poison ivy issues (6/7) They felt self contained yet bigger in scope. They had heart, they had solid dialog, they had great art. I really dug batman dealing with both of them in different ways than usual. I also did enjoy the final reveal at the end even though it was pretty predictable. The "Oh damn" moment was pretty fun.
The bad: I didn't like issue 8 much. It was a Madhatter issue and I have to be honest. I fucking HATE him lol. In everything I read I just dislike him so much. Crazy physiological trips are always lame to me. This didn't introduced anything new for Bruce. Also I didn't feel the Duke story AT all this volume. I actually thought that side story was decent in volume 1 but not so much here.
So far All-Star Batman isn't my favorite Batman Snyder has done. It's fun at points. Epic even. I really will remember the freeze and ivy issues cause they were enjoyable and memorable. The rest? Not so much. So hopefully the next arc is even better!

This will be short. Because I'm tired after reading this. I just did not like the second half at all. The first half was pretty entertaining though.
Probably one of the best volumes of the series. We've been building and building. Getting ready for doomsday! THE FINAL DAY WHEN ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE.
Then the second half of this volume goes in a wildly different direction then expected. A huge time jump that works very well. Some series can't pull it off but this one does.
What I liked: Character's are changing, hidden motivations, and events actually speed through on this one. Lots of great moments, some eerie scenes of death, and some new interesting characters popping up. Also let's talk about the ending...what in the fuck of fucks? Yeah...
What I didn't like: The chapter with the brothers. Kind of felt weak compared to the rest.
20th Century Boys needs to be read. I mean it. It's one of the best manga series I read and I'm only 1/4th of the way through. I hope it stays this good throughout.

This was pretty fun! I'd probably go more inline with 3.5!
What I liked: The interaction between all the characters. The standouts are obviously going to be Marvel Boy and Loki. They truly give the funniest lines. However all of the characters really make it more interesting. The art is solid, everyone looks fun and upbeat. I also enjoyed the pacing where I never felt bored not even once.
What I didn't like: That it all got wrapped up to quickly. Actually, the plot itself seemed a bit off to me anyway. I liked the characters but the story itself just didn't feel like it lived up to the characters. It felt very...generic. I guess if I knew the characters more it would matter more.
Either way this was fun. I'm going to try reading the next volume soon and see if my enjoyment goes up. I have a feeling it will.

Unlike most comic fans I enjoy a lot of bendis stuff. I know some of it isn't loved (X-men and most current comics from here) but I still like a lot of it. I especially LOVE his Daredevil/Ultimate Spider-man run.
So I decided to try out powers. Always seemed like a cool subject matter. Have regular officers deal with superhero issues. Basic right? However built it's in own world it could really turn out to be something very interesting.
What I liked: Christian Walker and Deena make a good combo. Christian typical badass who seems not to want to be bothered by anyone, including his new rookie partner. However the more you get to know each of them the more you understand their difference of how they were raised and also why they are bitter in different ways. On top of that I enjoyed the art a lot. Reminded me of the 90's batman type cartoon feel. The dialog was also a lot of fun, especially at the end. The last Confession room scene was great.
What I didn't like: Some of the dialog was too much. Sometimes taking forever to get to the end of the page because of needless dialog about nothing or repeats. Also the plot feels a little "been there done that" which is surprise since I really was sucked into Jessica Jones which is a very "detective" feel as well.
Overall I enjoyed it. Some flaws but I want to get more invested in this world. At the moment I'd give it a 3-3.5. Let's see how much better it gets!

I'll be honest this is my first Guardians of the Galaxy book. I read other graphic novels with them coming in to help or part of the team helping but this is the first full graphic novel with them. I went back and saw this was the run to read so I went for it. What did I think? Not bad.
What I liked: The dialog between the team is great. I've only really seen the movies before this so having some new people like Adam Warlock was a little different for the dynamic but I actually loved his moments. Drax is once again really well done. Love Rocket. Wish Groot did more. Mantis was interesting and hope to see her more like this in the movie. I really dug Peter as the leader though and at the end, the twist, was pretty good.
What I didn't like: The secret invasion storyline felt forced in and rushed. Like most events the side stories are never very good. This is kind of on the same level. I mean the team arguing keeps it entertaining but the central plot wasn't all that great. Actually, that's for the whole book. THe plot itself is okay but the characters save it.
I think I'ma keep going. Maybe read another volume or two and see if I can get sucked in like with the movies. I do have a lot of characters I love so let's seeeeee!

I really do have a good time reading Paper girls. It's just...it's still not a "great" series for me. However there are great moments so let's get to it.
What I liked: Loved the first issue in here. The reaction for the girls going into 2016 and seeing things like Smart TVS and future cars is great. Their reactions had me actually freaking laugh out loud. I also love the adult version of Erin. Also the banter between the characters is still top notch. Brian ALWAYS does dialog well.
What I didn't like: Still not understanding what's happening with the story. Random shit just keeps happening and while it's entertaining leaves you like "Huh?" and for me I'm just not interested in finding out the "huh" this time around. Also I don't really LOVE any of the characters. I'm still forcing myself to find someone to latch on to. Instead I just like the group but none really mean much to me if they die and that's not good. Also not a huge fan of the art tbh. I dunno, something about the smudgyness of it.
I still really dig Paper girls. It has problems and I expect "The best" from Brian since he created 3 of my favorite graphic novels of all time. However I can see how Paper Girls can really appeal to a lot of people. I hope it keeps getting better.
