Listen, if you're expecting high quality writing look elsewhere.

Jackie is a selfish, asshole, mobster, murderer, womanizer, but also fun and over the top macho makes this feel like I'm back in grade school reading "edgy badass comics. But also the art is mostly great, the darklings are funny as hell, the fights can be brutal and fun, and while there's alot to be desired in the fighting department, this is still a really fun comic.

I'm excited to read volume 2 down the line.

This volume was super cute.

You get to really feel the pressure of both characters, there hopes, there dreams, and a really cute almost kiss scene during a rainstorm. I like how cozy this one is. A 4.5 out of 5.

New review: I bump my 3.5 to a 4 since I really loved the werewolf storyline this time. But the spirits haunting the movie set one still kind of eh on. Rest good to great.

Old review: Swamp Thing gives a bunch of new stories that all range in quality, and with that, it is probably the weakest volume for me so far.

I still enjoyed the majority of this. I think the best story is actually the one focused on basically pollution and creating a monster from us using up the earth's resources, tus becoming the ultimate villain for Swamp Thing. On top of that we finally see good old Hellblazer and he is for sure a piece of shit here as always. But he leads Swampy around the world where he must face things like Werewolves and Racism. Yep.

The werewolf storyline is a weird one. Somewhat good in parts, and love the fact we get a strong feminist character but the end...what the hell? And the Racism plot, again parts are great, but the overall storyline feels weak. Though I do love all the moments with Swamp Thing and Abby.

Overall, a mix pot for me on this one. Nothing bad, but a bit messy. Overall, a 3.5 out of 5.

Wayyyy to much info dump, not enough characters do give a fuck. The idea is pretty awesome, I do like it, but the execution has a lot to be desired. I can't recall a single character's name that's how bored I sadly was at the end.

Dr. Strange must fight himself to overcome death.

This is a great little story that's been building up since the death of Dr. Strange. Dr. Strange and his wife must face another Strange who war ridden, unbalanced, and vicious. Which leaves Dr. Strange to turn to his darker side. It's really exciting to see Strange on the edge, what he'd do, but also a message of not just killing/giving up but focusing on helping.

Great stuff, up there with some of Jed's best.

Dark and twisted.

With stories like this, stray bullets, criminal, you get a lot of terrible characters doing terrible things. I will say the first issue and third are the strongest, especially the third. But the second issue has a lot of uncomfortable moments that did make it a bit hard to read. But if like crime stories, twisted characters, and none too "good" this would be a solid book to pickup.

There's no humans left on earth...except for Bruce.

This is basically Bruce just wanting all of this to end. To finally say goodbye to the earth he once loved. But every time he gets close to dying the Hulk comes out and stops him. This is a pretty bleak tale of Bruce Banner's last days and the Hulk's never-ending quest to be the strongest there ever was. A 4 out of 5.

The big final crisis event happens here and it's impacted even my boy Swampy.

Though this storyline is actually way darker than that. A cult underground torturing and forming the opening for the darkness to come and destroy the world makes Hellbalzer, Swampy, and all the magic users team up to face off against this beast. With some really great moments, along with Abby going through hell being exposed to be with Swampy, this ends one major chapter and opens up the next.

A 4 out of 5.

While not as strong overall as volume 1 this still contains some amazing stories.

I really loved the werewolf story this time, as well as the creature made from waste and pollution. It all fits the heavy themes of Swamp Thing so far. On top of that we get the end of the world coming with the Infinite Crisis run which really gets the magic people buzzing and Swamp Thing teaming up with some of the most god-like superheroes in the entire universe.

Overall some good stuff, even if some feels a bit too overstuffed, it's still a great run. A 4 out of 5.

The magic exams slow things down a bit for me. A lot of overly explaining rules and magic stuff that wasn't always so interesting.

But the battles themselves were entertaining and it still had the heart of this series which is simple human interactions meaning a whole lot at every turn. It helped the humor kicked back up by the end and I was smiling the whole way through the last two chapters. A 4 out of 5.
